I have A51 8 GB for a year now. Definitely one of my best buy of 2020.

I bought the Note10+, then they came out with the A51 and was like wow, then they came out with the S21 FE which had the best of everything for fairly cheap, ended up getting it for my dad. Major upgrade from the aging S7 he had. Only thing the A51 had missing for me was wireless charging.

      March 18, 2021 at 1:13 am

You should upgrade to this A52, definitely massive upgrade …

Used to own an a70 and it’s one my best out of contract phone purchases of all time….Samsung is doing a great job with the A series….5g, OIS, amoled, 90-120 hz refresh rate for mid range prices is amazing….there are more bang for the buck phones out there but we are talking about a samsung branded device here. I got back to doing phone contracts and I just got an s21 but if I knew that samsung will be announcing these phones, I would have held out on enewing my contract.

    March 17, 2021 at 6:41 pm

And the A series happens to look better than the flagships…

Ive moved on since the 9 series.

    • JROD

      March 17, 2021 at 7:32 pm

@Øystein I think all of these look better than the S line this year

    • Øystein

      March 17, 2021 at 7:50 pm

      @JROD 😂😂😂😂😂
So… Basicly the same design but they look better..? Makes no sense. This is a slightly cheaper design copied from the S series.

    • JROD

      March 17, 2021 at 7:56 pm

@Øystein i mean the back camera cluster cutout and the way it smoothly rides up on the edges of the camera square cluster. And the continuation of the flat back and flat screen design. Looks clean. And I prefer the back camera of this years A lineup to the S lineup. Not to mention the HUGE kick in the balls from Samsung by allowing the midrange lineup to have the micro SD card slot support but took it off of their REDICULOUSLY high priced S line.

Man, Samsung has changed man. Admit it.

    • Øystein

      March 17, 2021 at 8:09 pm

@JROD Yes, it’s like the S20 series and the Oppo Find X3 series had a baby.. But still looks like a S21..
Flat back and flat screen is also on the S20FE and S21.. Infact all have flat backs with curved edges so it sits smooth in the hand. So you prefer something that looks the same unless you look closer.. Ok..😅
SD card is stupid to remove so agreed there.
Bit the S line is really not higher priced than any other comparable phone models..

We all know Samsung has changed dude.. Nobody is saying anything different. They start to act like Apple so if they don’t change that then I turn my back on them and just get something else. Huge market with alot of options 👌

    • JROD

      March 17, 2021 at 8:32 pm

@Øystein well its their problem to deal with on sales of the s21. And i know they’ve been bad. Those phones are already heavily marked down.

None of it matters to me anyway. Like i said, I stopped buying Samsung phones since my last phone from them which was the 8gb/512gb NOTE 9 (Unlocked)

That phone has every feature I need.

But i dont always use that. I have other phones I’m trying out.

If Samsung wants to remove features, let them. It ONLY prompts people to start using other manufacturers devices since the Galaxy phones no longer have that ” edge”

So what did i do? Bought a Google Pixel 4a 5G UNLOCKED from the Google Store so i can give them a try. I know they dont have expandable memory but they’ve NEVER had that. Cant ding them for a feature they’ve never had. Unlike Samsung.

I paid FULL price for that NOTE 9 back when the midnight Black model was released. If you remember how much that came out to you’d know that this now $500 dollar Pixel phone is refreshing.

Its nice to FINALLY break from the norm and try other stuff. Samsung did that, not me. Had they remained the company that they once were, I’d own an S21.

But honestly🤔 maybe not. These pixels are nice man.

And i really didn’t even spend $500 on this Pixel 4a 5G. I bought it when the Google Store had that $50 dollars off promo. So for $480 dollars ( Shipped ) for an UNLOCKED Pixel, not too bad. I’m starting to understand why people are waking up and starting to go backwards.

      Makes sense now.

    March 17, 2021 at 6:49 pm

Feature-rich, faster processor, more RAM, faster screen refresh rate, bigger battery, comes with a charger, reasonably priced. Way to go, Samsung! Oh and not having wireless charging is not a deal breaker for me.

    • Obi Dean

      March 18, 2021 at 1:11 am

Agree, wireless charging is not deal breaker plus considering the phones target lower end markets, I don’t think the adoption of wireless charging as wide as higher end markets. What’s more important, it got IP 67 and fast refresh rate OLED screen. Also no more underpowered midrange Exynos. Previous Galaxy A used to be very underwhelming but not this year, so happy to see they don’t skimped it considering A lineup was the volume seller for them last year …

    CPU?

  7. rubenrar1

    March 17, 2021 at 7:14 pm

Well what’s happening is Samsung is being more competitive because they’re noticing that consumers are going elsewhere for budget phones but everyone knows that Samsung only gives her entry level phones up to three to four gigabytes of RAM, my dad bought the a21 and he returned it back, end up financing The s20 fan edition, if that doesn’t tell you anything then I can’t help you. Lol but on the other side it looks like Apple’s version of the 5c lmao but either way it’s a win-win because their entry level phones suck

  8. v a

    March 17, 2021 at 7:14 pm

So basically they’re just re-releasing the s20fe… Samsung as a company is junk the s20fe released and head screen problem for months before they were able to roll out any meaningful update.. have fun with your even cheaper version

I bet they call this the Pixel-Killer behind closed doors.
Pure Android on the pixel 2 XL finally convinced me to leave iOS (Never looked back).
I don’t like Samsung’s take on Android, but I’d buy an A72 over the current Pixel line-up if that wasn’t a factor (it still very much IS).

    • Ernie Manning

      March 17, 2021 at 10:53 pm

That’s the first thing I looked at as well. I think it’s safe to say yes. The fact that it’s getting 3 years of software updates starting with Android 11 is fantastic. The camera experience may not be on par, but close enough, and the price will be the determining factor.

    • Matthew Brown

      March 17, 2021 at 11:12 pm

If Google licensed their camera tech to Samsung, then yes. If Samsung went pure Android, then yes. As they are, no.

    • Courtney King

      March 18, 2021 at 1:23 am

When I was watching the Unpacked after work I was thinking just that especially after the said the pricing at the end. The Pixel A line is good, but Samsung is clearly coming for their throats with these two phones. The IP rating, the pricing, the marketing to Gen Z and younger Millenials by partnering with Snapchat (I expect them to partner with TikTok at some point), the better RAM options, higher storage, and larger battery capacities. They’re coming at Huawei and Xiaomi abroad and for Google in the states if they launch here.

Finally phones with stuff that we Android users need, 3.5mm jack and expandable storage. Isn’t that the reason most of us are on Android in the first place? Hopefully LG man’s up and makes that v70 I want.

Better? You’re complaining about A52/A72 processor yet you’re saying Pixel 4a is better? (720G is slightly better than 730)

Pixel 4a 60hz, No IP Rating, Smaller Screen, only 3yrs Software update, No Ultrawide Angle Camera, equals better?? 🤣🥴🥱

I had a note 10plus. I dropped it at a concert and it was destroyed from being stepped on. I wanted a cheap replacement until the note 20 came out. So I picked up an open box A90 on ebay for about $250. One of the best phones I ever used. To this day my gf is still using it. And just like me…she loves it.

  29. James Joshua Escandor

Here in the Philippines, the A52 5G and A72 have the same price tag with each other. This should be a confusing situation for the consumers who wants 5G and a Telephoto Lens but their budget is tight. I am sad that the A72 5G scrapped weeks/months before launch. That should be their gap filler in between S20 FE.

Ok you have mentioned this this this…what about processor which is the heart of any phone. Its just Snapdragon 720 and ,750G which are average performers. Not even 765G atleast which falls into mid high segment category.

Idk the specs don’t sell me tbh, I’m surprised that no one has brought up the oppo reno x3 pro or the xiaomi mi 11 that cost in the $600-700 range just starting both have a snapdragon 888 and 12 gb of ram at minimum. While both don’t have a headphone jack, jabra has given me a good replacement for the headphone jack.

Is anything else missing? Yes. 8K video. I know this is a niche feature but it has practical utility. If you need to capture quality photos on the fly every frame of an 8K video is a photo that can even be cropped significantly and still maintain quality. The same reframing capabilities make 8k attractive for behind the scenes video footage as well. That’s a feature I’m looking for on my next phone.

    • Soboktageen Sohail

      March 20, 2021 at 5:15 pm

Spend the extra 200 bucks then buddy.

    • Tallent Media

      March 21, 2021 at 12:47 am

      @Soboktageen Sohail

You said that as if I intended otherwise.

“Is anything else missing?” was the question posed by the narrator of this video, but he did not address what is probably the BIGGEST thing missing. 8k video is a significant difference that justifies the more expensive, higher-end product lines for those who desire this feature.

The point of the video seems to be to show the many features being packed into the latest “entry-level” phones from Samsung. The A52 and A72 will probably be in the $400-500 range when they arrive in the US. Retail on the S21 series runs from about $800 to $1200.

So, features like 8k bump the price by around $300-$800. Perhaps the street prices will be narrower, as you suggest. We’ll see.

But I think I’ll bite the bullet and buy an 8k phone. I don’t necessarily need all of the other bells and whistles, but the cheaper phones just don’t offer 8k yet.
