on the flight line we had access to jet fuel.. same procedure right? flush it out, replace the filters? asking for a friend

Where are these fuel filters? I haven’t seen a fuel filter on a petrol car since 98..

HOW did you get the diesel nozzle into the full tube?

or the fuel terminal might have loaded a bunch of delivery trucks with diesel instead of gas like happened in CO in january

    • @Tom-cn4cm

Even if it’s just sitting in the tank? Even if you don’t start your car? lol that’s hard to believe.

    • @TruckFan542

      October 6, 2026 at 8:05 pm

If you don’t start it it’s a drain and refill kinda thing.
If you do start a diesel on gas you’ll have 2 problems- underlubrication and engine knocking.
Gasoline ignites more readily than diesel, which will cause engine knocking and catastrophic damage to a diesel engine, in addition to the lack of lubricity chewing up the injection pump

    • @fdsfds7339

      October 6, 2026 at 6:15 pm

Depends where you are, sometimes it’s just a different color. But pumping gas is something people are often on autopilot while they do it or also distracted on their phone or something

  13. @Jwilliamstech

    October 6, 2026 at 5:00 pm

I was 15 years old working for my brother-in-law and he had a 89s model diesel suburban. He had me flush the block out with desiel while changing the oil. He didn’t tell me to unplug the glow plugs. It was a runaway, I turned off the engine and was standing outside of it holding the keys. It finally stopped, I put oil in it and we took it for a ride. It started running hot, and yes it had a blown head gasket. 😂 Also it fused the injectors to the head on one side. He replaced the motor and never asked me to flush another vehicle out while changing the oil.

  14. @FloorShakerMusic

    October 6, 2026 at 6:15 pm

I filled my last diesel car with 15 litres of petrol and it was fine. I just topped it up to fill with diesel. It felt like the engine was going to shake out the bonnet every time I started it, but after filling up with diesel every time I ran it, it was fine.

  15. @mildredbangtree

    October 6, 2026 at 6:26 pm

How in the F did you get the nozzle into the filler neck? 😂😂😂😂😂

  20. @12thDecember

    October 6, 2026 at 7:57 pm

A service station in a nearby town won’t pump diesel for their customers. The customer has to do it themselves, no exceptions. Apparently some people drove up and asked for diesel in their gas-fueled vehicles, and then blamed the service station for what happened next.

  21. @johndavidwolf4239

    October 6, 2026 at 8:02 pm

You jumped to the conclusion that my car does not have a carburetor and is fuel injected.

  22. @scottmoore402

    October 6, 2026 at 8:19 pm

Shouldn’t happen. Diesel nozzles won’t fit in a gas tank on a car

  23. @jaeykub1184

    October 6, 2026 at 8:47 pm

Boss called me and says he put gasoline in his brand new truck, I told him do not move it and tow it. He decided to hit the highway and “burn it off” .

  24. @ReclinRR

diesel pump don’t fit in a regular car

  26. @JasonWatson-yg1tq

    October 6, 2026 at 9:39 pm

    It’ll run

  27. @danlorett2184

    October 6, 2026 at 9:42 pm

So first, you’re gonna need to explain HOW. Gas pumps are 1/2″, and diesel are 3/4″, so the diesel LITERALLY WILL NOT FIT.

It’s almost like we KNOW we’re dumb and we PLAN AROUND IT.

  28. @rogerknutson9258

    Jared!

  29. @38unknownhinson

    October 6, 2026 at 10:32 pm

Not much it just kinda lubricates everything and then it wont run again until you drain it

  30. @joel9990

    October 6, 2026 at 10:36 pm

how hard was it to put a pump nozzle that didn’t fit and fill the tank?

    • @mitchell7203

      October 7, 2026 at 11:31 am

There are plenty of stations with the standard size nozzle on the diesel pumps

  31. @michaelhungate7506

    October 6, 2026 at 10:48 pm

Circa 1985, we had a 1984 Nissan Sentra diesel. My sister put gas in it. It ran terrible. Im sure we didn’t get it flushed and she only put 3$ in it. My Dad was furious, he filled it up the rest of the way with diesel. Im sure that wasn’t good for it. That was a good car, a 5 speed and got 55mpg.

  32. @Unknown_Ooh

    October 6, 2026 at 10:49 pm

The car will still run, for a couple minutes until the diesel hits the fuel rail 😂

  33. @Doncornball

    • @wallie2k747

      October 9, 2026 at 12:59 pm

Thats what people have been telling me my whole life but at this point im pretty sure im just an idiot

  36. @johnmorris8444

    October 7, 2026 at 2:39 am

I put gas in a diesel tank once. It was super early on a winter day and the pumps at this station I was at are very slow pumping diesel. When the tank was filled in like 2 minutes I knew something was up and that’s when I realized. Never started it. Me and another guy dragged it to the corner of the lot. Drained the tank there and ended up not being too bad.

  37. @ARCHR221

    October 7, 2026 at 3:24 am

It sounds like they were wanting to know more of the underlying mechanics and the science concerning the effects that the diesel fuel would have on the gasoline fuel system and why the steps that you outlined have to take place before it is drivable again. They didn’t ask what to do, they asked why it needs to be done.

  38. @harshitsatuwala

    October 7, 2026 at 3:49 am

Well I don’t understand why you call petrol “gas”!

  39. @sear-w7o

    October 7, 2026 at 4:16 am

I thougtclearly gas won’t fit in diesel tank then I remember Americans calls petrol as gas 😂

  41. @dsmyify

    October 7, 2026 at 7:49 am

In UK, diesel is black pump, petrol is green pump. In South Lake Taho, on the way to airport in a hire car, it’s petrol is black pump and diesel in green pump.

    • @mitchell7203

      October 7, 2026 at 11:30 am

In the state it’s usually the opposite, but some stations do it that way. BP being one that I see a lot. Not surprisingly being British Petroleum after all.

  42. @mitchell7203

    October 7, 2026 at 11:27 am

What’s this??? A mechanic that actually knows what he’s talking about??? The amount of people that claim to be knowledgeable and think that diesel will ruin a gasoline engine is crazy.

  43. @jacebeleren429

    October 7, 2026 at 11:48 am

oh hey man! I haven’t seen you around in a while. Sheesh it’s been years. I hope you are doing well.

  44. @hectorherbert6585

    October 7, 2026 at 11:56 am

In 2010 I put RON95 in my Diesel WWT4 2001 van..started drove strange for a few miles (guess the mix was not pure 95)..stopped..had a friend come over to pump the diesel right off the fuel line in the engine bay..put diesel back in…not a single problem…maybe that old tech saved it.

  45. @RDEnduro

    October 7, 2026 at 1:10 pm

This would have been a better show if it wasnt so basic with ground level questions and answers about octane rating and putting diesel in gasoline cars. This is general knowledge stuff

  46. @coryaustin7379

    October 7, 2026 at 3:39 pm

Not gonna lie, I always do a double take whenever I get gas at a BP.

  47. @jackson92837

Y’all wrong, it is petrol not gas.

  49. @r3h0l3s7

    October 7, 2026 at 5:49 pm

first off, why are you asking in a comment section when you can just look it up on the internet?

  50. @JavierJimenez-po7fd

    October 7, 2026 at 8:07 pm

Got it. So I can put diesel in a gasoline car, but not gasoline in a diesel car.

  51. @RifaiAL

    October 7, 2026 at 10:59 pm

Why do Americans use the word “gas” for petrol? Gas? Which gas? CO2 or H2 ?

  52. @serious4gaming696

    October 8, 2026 at 12:24 am

What about adblue in a diesel

  53. @wburger2178

    October 8, 2026 at 3:11 am

    Depends how much diesel!

  54. @nazonrev5087

    October 8, 2026 at 10:09 am

I just dont understand why diesel and gas pumps and sockets were designed the same way. So many accidents could have been avoided

  55. @neemancallender9092

    October 9, 2026 at 1:12 am

As a mechanic in the 70s
When you wanted to screw someone
Just a little diesel into the tank
    Then walk away
    🤦‍♂️🥰

  56. @ov3rload333

    October 9, 2026 at 2:39 am

Well my dad put gas in his 2001 golf 4 and ran with it for about 50 miles before he realised his mistake. All that happened was the car would pull very slowly and not get to 100km/h. The car still worked fine after flushing and put some diesel in it.

  57. @Theo-yp2fg

    October 9, 2026 at 12:14 pm

This is one of the first things my dad taught me when I got my first car – because it was a diesel and neither of us wanted that mistake. I put 300k miles on her 💖

  58. @ethanmarquardt9981

    October 9, 2026 at 1:59 pm

That didn’t answer the question tho

  59. @Bladeworkssystems

    October 9, 2026 at 3:59 pm

Both engines. Both fuel. Will sound different but it’ll be fine

  60. @ValidatingUsername

  61. @GodlessKnightmare

    You didn’t answer the question.

  62. @ak47marx16

    October 10, 2026 at 1:53 am

That’s not a mistake, that’s a definition of idiot. What kind of an idiot mistakes gasoline for diesel or vice versa?

  63. @Leftyotism

    October 10, 2026 at 7:49 pm

Sounds as if Diesel wasn’t gasoline. lol

  64. @thtgurlbb

    October 12, 2026 at 3:34 am

I definitely thought he was gonna say we’d explode. My ex bought a Diesel truck and I asked him abt the differences in the oils. He didn’t explain it v well but he was like “do not ever under any circumstances put gas in this car… it will end badly” and yeah thts all I needed to know ig.

  65. @BklSarih

    October 13, 2026 at 1:33 pm

You still didn’t explain why it won’t run

    • @tehstinch

      October 13, 2026 at 3:47 pm

the diesel won’t burn. too much diesel and it will foul the spark plugs and they won’t produce a spark until cleaned. if there is less diesel and the engine will still run the unburnt diesel will get past the piston rings and end up in the engine oil.

    • @NasgaX

      October 14, 2026 at 12:01 pm

“What happens when you do this?” “Bad stuff”. Thanks.

  66. @Conetall420

    October 13, 2026 at 2:36 pm

Yep. If you put diesel in a gas car, it just won’t run. But putting gas in a diesel engine causes premature ignition, and that knocking will blow your pistons and cylinders real fast

  67. @mightbejimi

    October 13, 2026 at 9:29 pm

they should have done that to the hilux

  68. @emayex8934

    October 14, 2026 at 5:00 am

Does he even explain why its bad tho😂

    • @NasgaX

      October 14, 2026 at 11:58 am

yah this short was useless. “What happens when you do this?” “Bad stuff”. Thanks.

    • @Andy_EYEKON

      October 15, 2026 at 1:27 pm

@NasgaX but he explains what to do which is what most people want to know

  69. @raerae-y2k

Literally does not answer the question.

  70. @QveenRexxx

    October 14, 2026 at 2:57 pm

My friend literally did this last week. He knew he shouldn’t have and still did it. It was hard to feel sorry for him.

  71. @RaabiaK2

    October 14, 2026 at 9:53 pm

I almost made this mistake once. 😭😭

  72. @MelissaBlue

    October 15, 2026 at 9:18 am

Happened with a group that used a lot of rental vans. This was in the UK so people weren’t familiar with the vehicles. Diesel into petrol tank and petrol into diesel tank happened fairly frequently.

  73. @machism.a

    October 15, 2026 at 12:26 pm

what if I put diesel in my electric car?

  74. @Yetaxa

    October 15, 2026 at 12:30 pm

He didn’t actually explain anything. Just said it was bad. Which we all know. I imagine they wanted to know what is actually going on and why it causes all these problems

    • @Andy_EYEKON

      October 15, 2026 at 1:27 pm

He didn’t explain what happens, yes, but explained what to do. Most people just need to know what to do if they make the mistake not the chemical and mechenical componts that make the mistake, well, a mistake

    October 16, 2026 at 12:37 pm

Gas? What gas? You mean petrol ?

    • @TylerWeston-s5l

      October 20, 2026 at 7:28 am

As in gasoline, theres a lot of petroleum products so that one never really made sense to me. Diesel is as much petrol as gas is.

  80. @vlademil959

    October 16, 2026 at 6:11 pm

I put in 2l of gas in my diesel and filled the rest of 38l with diesel, the guy at the pump said it was ok, and actually it would help with the freezing temperatures

  81. @jamesdelcol3701

YOU PUT DIESEL IN THE BRONKO?!?!?

  89. @ChiWithZ

    October 19, 2026 at 12:39 pm

Just fyi, if you did pump in petrol in a diesel car – it will obviously not start and if you do start, it could actually require new fuel injectors, because the fire points for petrol is far lower than diesel and it will eventually burn out your system if you do it multiple times. And it could absolutely result in you having to replace a lot of your intake manifold (filter, injectors, spark plug, and even fuel system)

  90. @NexusWPT

Same question but not full diesel, let’s say partial before we pulled it out after finding the mistake… is it still safe to drive knowing there’s a mixture in the tank?

Why does he keep saying “diessel”??

what happens if i put jet fuel in my tractor?

  100. @D-OveRMinD

    October 20, 2026 at 9:27 am

How is this even possible to do, because the diesel nozzle is literally too big to fit into a gas vehicle hole.

  101. @Andrei-sm3er

    October 20, 2026 at 9:35 am

Next question – how do I flush it

  102. @Phoen1xChan

    October 20, 2026 at 11:21 am

Best way to get the diesel out, is by burning it. Just throw a few lit matchsticks, and it does its job. Easy!

    October 20, 2026 at 5:01 pm

In other words, he doesn’t what’s actually happening; he just knows what to do if it happens 😂.

Aren’t pumps different sizes so that way this can’t happen? Like the diesel pumps near me will not fit in a gas engine. Is this not universal?

  105. @MrFlyingEmo

    October 21, 2026 at 11:17 am

What if I drank diesel instead of gasoline? What should I do?

  107. @laughingman212

    October 23, 2026 at 1:15 am

You cant fit a diesel pump into a gas car the diameter of the diesel pump is bigger

  108. @JPK1337

    October 23, 2026 at 5:44 am

Nothing happens. Diesel gas pump nozzles are larger in diameter and don’t fit in a gas car.

  109. @p3tite3bony

    October 23, 2026 at 4:45 pm

wtf is the difference between the two

  110. @VladimirBula

    October 23, 2026 at 6:44 pm

In most european coutries you cant put diesel in petrol car…its impossible because the pump is too wide…luckily

  111. @whoisj

    October 23, 2026 at 7:31 pm

Gasoline in a Diesel is basically a fire bomb. Don’t do it. Don’t be the guy who makes that mistake. Those diesel VWs that were all rage 20 years ago used to terrify me at the pump ‘cause you knew some idiot was going to make that mistake, and I really didn’t want to be there when it happened.

    Gas as in petrol?

Is that why it’s not starting 😮

I once had a ford Mondeo (standard turbo diesel). Accidentally filled the tank like 60% with 98 gasoline. I decided to just top it off with diesel, keep driving and ever other gas station add more diesel.

It had the lowest friggin consumption ever

  115. @yurei_okami

    October 24, 2026 at 12:29 pm

That’s literally why, in some/most countries, the diesel pumphandle is black while the gasoline is green or red. Here in Sweden it was red and black until unleaded came along and that was green, now they are all green since that’s all we have, and diesel is still black.

Asking is already shows she’s better.

  117. @Its_me_Wheez

    October 27, 2026 at 9:27 am

I just want to put out there that diesel nozzles are made to be either 1 in or 3/4-in leaded.
So even the 3/4-in ones will not fit inside a gas car’s fill Port.
If there is all unleaded nozzle for gasoline where the diesel is supposed to be, that is the problem with the gas station itself and their crummy upkeep.

Also going to take this moment to tell everybody to not leave your nozzle unattended. Sometimes the gas nozzles can fail over time and they will fill past their fill point, causing spills.
The store is not liable for this. You are. Which means that comes with the environmental crew to come out and clean up the mess which can cost hundreds.
