How does it not fall over when you touch it? The base looks smaller in different videos.
A smart screen should be available in 2035?

Forget Amazon and Google. At just $99 it’s safe to say the HomePod Mini is about to be this years best selling Xmas present. Apple’s about to make a killing. 💰😂

So its basically a google home mini that came out 5 years later and 3 times the price. Seems like a good deal.

This isn’t meant to compete as a ‘smart speaker’, the homepod is essentially a surround sound speaker with AI to adjust room settings.

  12. Lenardz

    October 13, 2020 at 11:24 pm

They can call this the Apple HomePod mini, but I’m calling it the Apple Magic 8-ball. If it was really a HomePod mini, it would first and foremost look like the original HomePod with the cylinder shape….but smaller.

  13. Rod Priester

    October 13, 2020 at 11:26 pm

Competitive would have been $59.99 maybe even $79.99

    • Sean Elias

      October 14, 2020 at 12:54 am

If the sound great and comes with better tech, then $20 won’t break the bank.

  14. Teddy Nielsen

    October 13, 2020 at 11:29 pm

The price is right, waiting for the reviews to see if the sound quality is right too.

I realize now why Apple is so late to every feature. They take the feature and perfect it. (Sometimes they take too long to introduce a feature)

  17. David Andrawes

    October 14, 2020 at 12:01 am

Two questions. Will it be wireless and portable? And will it work with Spotify?

    • 87_Michael

Won’t work with Spotify so I’m gonna get a Sonos instead.

  24. zigzigf*ck

    October 14, 2020 at 1:01 am

At Apple, they dare to make believe to people that a very small ball spreads a powerful sound at home, it’s just a big technological lie that only dummies believe if they don’t think enough.
Apple does not give enough tech specs on the their official websites about this product : they don’t speak about the total harmonic distortion, nor about the frequency response, and nor about the signal to noise ratio ( the most important point )
Frankly, if you love music and high fidelity sound , don’t buy a gadget like this.

  25. Ryan Burke

  26. Bob Burghardt

  27. Simon P

As for Siri being better…well that remains to be seen.

My original HomePod sounds flipping fantastic especially with how small the footprint is. I wonder what this one will sound like.

  29. Yep why

    October 14, 2020 at 11:56 am

Nothing to see here…just keep it moving. Sounds like apple is doing something that is already being done

  30. Mick W

    October 14, 2020 at 12:22 pm

I applaud the new HomePod Mini but honestly, I want them to either (A) make it wireless, or (B) make it a clock ala Amazon Echo Show 5/8.

  31. Matthew Wilson

    October 14, 2020 at 12:42 pm

It’s also nice to see it works with Amazon Music since I have Amazon Music HD. Would be nice to see all smart speakers work with all music streaming services.

Ready to sell your privacy for yet another pod/nests/ echo etc….for $99….
If I care About sound quality I will buy thr real Audio products even if I have to pay high dollars to get them and not sell my voice and data to billion dollar companies…

Only thing that exited me on the event was the home pod mini

  41. codemiester24

    October 14, 2020 at 5:57 pm

I don’t think apple can compete in the home automation space. Google and Amazon are still far ahead. And the HomePod mini is a good step but it’s still too expensive. Google Nest minis and Amazon Echos are less than half the price of this. And the issue with home automation, if you want to control every room, then there needs to be enough speakers to cover your entire home, in terms of the microphone. For me, I’d need at least 4 of these and that’s not as practical as the google nests I have now, that are a portion of HomePod cost. Plus I actually got some free nest minis when I purchased some google nest products. If Apple really wants to be competitive in this space, they need to start thinking about making their own IoT hardware.

  42. Darby Martinez

    October 14, 2020 at 6:08 pm

Apple should have made this in 2016 when everyone was setting up their smart home. Now it’s too late. Google and Amazon are too ahead.

  43. ChyroBeast

    October 14, 2020 at 6:08 pm

Really? The speakers half the price don’t sound as great? Well… thank you for informing me, otherwise I never would have guessed 🙄. Its almost like Amazon and Google actually make $100 smart speakers that sound better than their base offerings.

    October 14, 2020 at 6:24 pm

I don’t know if you noticed buddy but… you have an apple in the counter not a mini home pod.

    Does it has battery ?

  46. Get Buck

    October 14, 2020 at 8:19 pm

Are you able to use it wirelessly? Aka does it have a battery? I’ve noticed some shots it has no wire and others it does

I love how Apple was late to the party but still got the better name with Intercom. Google as bad at UX as ever, I see. They’re so robotic. “Broadcast” isn’t even an accurate description of what the feature does. Intercom is _perfect._

  48. Jimmy Cheshire

    October 14, 2020 at 10:10 pm

You could just watch Apple’s announcement and get the same detail. Not much of a first impressions video

  49. CORE Instincts

Will not buy till i hear ( sound) . that it is worth 200$!! Lol

  50. Suliman Boodai

    October 15, 2020 at 12:32 am

Can I use Intercom feature without home pod?
Let’s say using an iPad as the main unit?

    Thank you
