High expectations is unlikely with Apple products, Apple Pay has not made its mark in Europe for example well some of it but not all of it, and frankly Siri is outdated a new interface is fine but Siri’s response time through the cloud is limited it will, just give you a radius of your search, nowadays I have stopped using Siri even. We do need something better than this.

Apple was overly confident in its position as the leader in the mobile industry until the emergence of AI, particularly following OpenAI’s advancements. When questioned about AI’s potential impact before its rapid rise, Apple expressed no concern, relying on their existing machine learning capabilities. However, they eventually hurried to develop Apple Intelligence. They devoted significant time to introducing Vision Pro, which didn’t take off as the industry shifted focus to AI software over AR and VR. Now, Apple is scrambling to catch up with competitors. Hopefully, this experience will teach them not to be complacent and to prioritize genuine innovation.

Being an Apple customer since 1987, I never thought I would say this: I hope they get sued big time! Not only for the AI lies inducing people to upgrade to an iPhone 16 range if we wanted that shine AI presented. To get the sleep apnea feature I had to upgrade to Apple Ultra 2 because it didn’t work on Ultra 1. For the Hearing Aid/Hearing test features I had to upgrade to AirPods Pro 2, as it didn’t work with Pro 1. My older Magic Mouse not compatible with the new MacBook Pros (bought a new laptop after 10 years). New Apple pencils will work depending on the iPad model. And we could go on. I think I will skip WWDC this year.

Apples strategy to wait for others to innovate first and then launch their stuff has not worked this time. They sold iPhone 16 based on Software that was promised for future. They clearly didn’t want to focus on useful AI before they planned for iPhone 16

Reworking Siri would be good, but I wish they’d drop this AI bs and go back to finding ways to actually make using the phone better, more convenient, more streamlined for ME to operate, not built for me to tell an LLM to do operations for me
“Hey LLM, give me garbage answers to a question that I should be capable of google searching for myself in the first place”
“Hey LLM, poorly summarize information for me I should be capable of reading for myself”
“Hey LLM, do my homework for me poorly, help me cut corners in any and all facets of my life”
“Hey Generative feature, make the worst most affront to the word art slop images & video for me imaginable”
Most other people I’ve talked to with an iPhone 16 don’t like, support, or have turned on any Apple Intelligence features that are able to be opted out of
This is a lot of corporate investment into features people intend to turn off

They need to find a way to get the cross-app integration as well as the conversational, memory-having, basic understanding that modern LLMs have. They might need to pay Open-ai or another major player in the AI space a lot of money to make it happen, but they HAVE to figure it out.

March 31, 2025 at 4:11 pm
Seems like it’s hard to know what you mean by “Siri” and even “Apple Intelligence”. For me, the autocorrect and autocomplete have gotten worse, but it’s hard to explain how. Seems like it’s going to take a lot more data and resources, and maybe some theoretical breakthroughs before AI (Apple Intelligence) will be good enough. I think part of the problem is that people expect more from Apple and hold Apple to a higher standard. We are not as willing to forgive mistakes from Siri or other Apple products as we are from Claude or ChatGPT, or even Gemini or Grok. And by the way, why is it “Gemini”? I don’t really follow Astrology, but I am a Gemini, and I have a twin, and I don’t see anything about 2 of anything for Google Gemini.
