0:40 You swapped the labels. The one on the left is labeled “AirPods 3rd Gen” when it’s clearly AirPods Pro without the ear tip.

I have some they get hot in my ear idk if that happens to you. And it also starts hurting after awhile. But when I first put them in they’re comfortable. Sound is clean asf tho and even the mic. But I’m sad they start hurting tho.

I have the perfect ear shape for AirPods 1 and 2nd gen
I hate in-ear tips so the 3rd gen AirPods are a instant buy for me (lost my AirPods back in April lol)

David, Hey w’sup G. Dope (not Dopey) review 😁
Review the LG FP9 TWS earbuds next if you can get hands on a set.

Though LG is off the smartphone game they’re still making earbuds.
They have an interesting new feature, worth a look.

Lots of better cheaper open earbuds out there now. These are not unique anymore. Maybe few years back these would have been ground breaking but not anymore.

@Mr Music True. They also already have the Beat 3 on-ear. The “perfect” on-ear would be a Bluetooth version of JVC Flats but being so light weight would probably be too breakable.

Or, would you wait for the Airpods Pro 2nd Gen?

    Thanks! ☺️

      October 25, 2021 at 11:16 pm

It really depends on the person. I would personally use these until the battery goes bad. However I don’t mind regular AirPods design at all as I came from AirPods 2 (have the pros rn) because I wanted to try ANC and transparency mode but also I lost the 2s. My ears can handle both AirPods so for me I wouldn’t mind choosing either

    October 26, 2021 at 3:57 pm

Thanks for an interesting review of the new AirPods3. I have AirPods Pro and find them one of the best sounding ear buds there are. The new ones don’t really make me want to buy them, especially as no noise cancelling on them. The only issue I have with the AirPods is no touch feature to turn volume up and down. I don’t really use Siri and don’t want to keep saying to turn them up or down. But Apple are a law unto themselves and you either put up with it or go Android with a phone and other ear buds.

AirPods in general have terrible microphones. I have no idea how people say they’re good.

  29. erikjonromnes

    October 26, 2021 at 5:45 pm

How much do you wanna bet that after so long, Apple will release an update that opens up dormant technology inside the AirPods 3 to be able to do sound cancellation? This way, they can keep selling all the AirPods Pro units and if / when AirPods Pro fall out of favor, they can just amplify the AirPods 3 sales with the magical sound cancellation update.

If this isn’t what they did, they missed an opportunity… I can’t imagine with the 3 having the same inner ear microphone feedback system on board as the Pro, that there would be much in the way of hardware that would be different than the Pros… leaving only software to be the missing link.

    October 26, 2021 at 6:04 pm

I own the Pros since release day end of 2009, and apart the first gen crackling issue, also ANC mode barely does its job anymore, there is close to no difference to it being turned off. So, I might as well switch back to the normal AirPods again. Shorter stem is great, love the stem controls, a bit less features to worry about.

The only thing that worries me: Every review talks about more bass. But I think gen1 and 2 AirPods and the Pros were pretty balanced which I loved. Since 90% of earbuds mix up basssss with audio quality, and people really seem to fall for that.

All earbuds hurt my ear including the AirPods. I can only use the galaxy buds live and be comfortable. I only use Apple products though so I’m dying to try these out. Also I love open earbuds. So they sound like my type of item.

Great review! You answered everything. I just received my new 3rd gen AA and am crossing my fingers that they are not plagued by the same issues as the first generation (one bud would not connect after a year). I was so frustrated by 1st gen AA that I said I’d never buy them again… but here we are. Last chance to get it right, Apple!

Just got the AirPod 3s today to replace AirPod 1s. I use AirPods all the time for phone, radio and music and I liked the comfortable sit in ear design idea of the original AirPods from the beginning. Agree with David’s review especially regarding improved sound and resistance to falling out of ears. I can turn my head sideways and shake and they stay in though I’m sure they will fit different people differently. They also go somewhat louder on volume. I will be retiring the wired earbuds i used when listening to music as the new AirPods sound good enough to replace those too. Need some good over ear headphones next I guess.

I have multiple sets of the AirPods, AirPods Pro, Jabra Elite Active 65t and 75t and I always keep coming back to the Jabras. When discounts come around you can get the Jabras at a great value. The AirPods are grossly overpriced for what you get and the profit margins for these for Apple must be sky high.

Airpods Pro was a game changer for me. Not an audiophile, so it’s the 1st time i encountered eartips that has a guard/net that keeps earwax from getting onto the mesh of your Airpod’s main speaker. Got the Xelastec silicone tips (also have the wax net) and it grips and stay on your ear properly. Will never go back to the normal Airpods design again due to the openness of the design. It’s so noisy and you can’t even hear the details of your music if you’re on the train, in a bus or on a plane.

I’ve also moved on from iPhone 11 Pro Max to a Z Fold 3, Apple Watch to Galaxy Watch and i’m still unwilling to move on from the Airpods Pro.

Thanks So Much … You did a great job of reviewing the new AirPods3 and detailing the differences from the AirPods Pro. The price point is a little high, but I love my AirPods2 with H1 Chip after replaced my original AirPods1 earlier this year. I also don’t really like the Tips of most inEar Wireless Headphones. so the AirPods3 might be a better upgrade for me versus the AirPods Pro. Keep up the great reviews
