Take action on climate change at .

On his first day as president, Joe Biden signed a letter of acceptance that set in motion the 30-day process for the United States to re-join the Paris Agreement on climate. On the day the US returns to the accord, John Kerry, the US Special Envoy for Climate, sits down with Nobel Laureate Al Gore to discuss the make-or-break decade ahead of us. Listen as Kerry lays out how the US fits into the global plan to get to net-zero emissions, explains why the COP26 UN climate conference could be humanity’s “last best hope” to build international momentum and explores the role of business and youth activists in promoting environmental justice. (This interview features an introduction from Christiana Figueres, the principal architect of the Paris Agreement.)

Countdown is TED’s global initiative to accelerate solutions to the climate crisis. The goal: to build a better future by cutting greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030, in the race to a zero-carbon world. Get involved at

There MUST be an equilibrium. 0% emissions could be misinterpreted …

Remember, we are carbon based life forms .. 🌿🌹

Also, remember that green credits are awarded for recycling and green initiatives. 0% emissions means there is just as much effort to clean as there is polluting (within reason) and this is easier to achieve than some can imagine

How about just releasing the 5700 patents the US government has under wraps for “National Security” purposes with at least 1/3 of those being alternative energy. What BS. 2021 and we have windmills and solar panels. Some of us were born at night just not last night. This is just all about your carbon taxes and controlling our movements.

Halfway through, and they have said almost nothing of substance. Just vague generalities. If their plan is to try and appease other primary polluting countries by giving them US taxpayer money I’m absolutely not for that because it won’t work, as it hasn’t in the Paris Accords’ history. China in particular does not care at all. We’re better off spending the money here at home.

The real goal of coronavirus lies is Redistribution of the world.
Founder of the Davos Forum Klaus Schwab book “Covid-19: The Great Reboot” (2020)

“There will be expropriation of remnants of property, which is still in the hands of physical persons. Depriving citizens of crumbs of property (housing, land, vehicles, etc.) should ensure that they lose the remnants of their economic independence. The same applies to the ownership (base assets) of small and medium-sized businesses. The “pandemic” and the lockdown it caused, Klaus Schwab notes, contribute to the “great reset”: small and medium-sized businesses go bankrupt, its property (assets) passes to the largest corporations and banks. This is the so-called clean-up of the economy. “Cleaning” is also taking place in the household sector. By the way, the American Democrats surrounding Joe Biden offer the new head of state the following. Most American households have accumulated huge debts to the state. It is necessary to forgive them their debts, but at the same time they must part with property and start life “from scratch.” Where the “new life” should begin – at a shop in the park, in a shelter or prison – is not specified, “the publication says.

“Plus, it is planned to gradually eliminate state property and transfer it to the hands of the” global elite. ” In 2018, Kathryn Austin Fitts interviewed The Rape of Russia: could it happen here? (Rape of Russia: is this possible here?). The author called the privatization of the 1990s “rape” of Russia. The same robbery, or “rape,” is being prepared for America. What’s the end? Let’s try to finish up for Schwab. The largest corporations will become the owners and owners of all the means of production in the world. They will no longer be called “transnational,” because there will be no national states and no national borders. Tangible assets related to consumption will become the property of a narrow group. I recall a phrase from George Orwell’s novel 1984: “The so-called” liquidation of private property, “which took place in the middle of the century, actually meant a concentration of property in the hands of a narrower circle of persons,” the article says.

“And in conclusion, why it is ridiculous to compare Klaus Schwab with Karl Marx. In the latter, the rejection of private property implies the “expropriation of expropriators” by the forces of the dictatorship of the proletariat. Professor Schwab’s modern expropriators (the largest TNCs) are completing the expropriation of the remnants of property of citizens, small and medium-sized businesses, and the state by the dictatorship of the “global elite.” Schwab is Anti-Marx “

China is frantically building coal fired power stations on a massive scale. They would not be doing this if they had any intention of shutting them in a few years. By that time, they will command the coal market, as western countries will have committed economic suicide courtesy of Biden, Gore and Kerry, etc., leaving China as the only significant market. Oh America, what have you done?

  31. K B

    February 20, 2021 at 1:03 pm

Love this rejoining. Getting back together to solve this critical issue before it’s too late! Maybe the way we’re doing it rn isn’t perfect but the effort is there and has to stay there to have any chance of conquering this issue

    • credenza1

      February 20, 2021 at 1:08 pm

All it does is to enable China to dominate the coal market, as it builds vast numbers of coal fired power stations which it has no intention of shutting down by 2050. Recent history tells us that China does not abide by agreements. They do not make massive investments simply to discard them in a few years. Meanwhile, the West will have committed economic suicide by pretending that renewable energy is a viable alternative.

I remember when TED talks were about science and innovation. Now they are about people who have 3 or 4 giant homes each who fly around in private jets who drive around in caravans of SUVs while making millions of dollars selling ketchup, inventing the internet and what not, being called science experts. Thank you TED I have one less thing to watch. I just wonder if either of these two men own ocean front property, is that prudent when ocean levels are going to rise 4ft? What a couple of goons. Al Gore’s home consumes 21 times more energy than the average, John Kerry owns an ocean front property on Martha’s vineyard, Barrack Obama owns an ocean front estate on Martha’s vineyard. They seem very worried to me. Just the inconvenient TRUTH. As someone who actually does care about the environment, I just feel we could pick better representation.

I believe the most promising breakthroughs will come from the energy sector in the near future. Efficient electricity generation, electric cars, solar power stations etc. Policy work based on chemical engineering is equally important.

So how long ago was it that Al Gore predicted that New York City would be underwater? Lurch flies everywhere in is PRIVATE Jet Airplane and told environmentalists that he DID NOT want Wind Turbines in Nantucket where his vacation home is located. Why? They would SPOIL HIS View. Gore and Kerry, Dumb and Dumber. Elitist snobs that NO ONE with half a brain should take seriously. We certainly can be better Stewards of the Planet, but the Marxists want to Control US, not the environment. Not too long ago, both of these LIARS called it GLOBAL WARMING. That didn’t work because the WEATHER continues to run in CYCLES. We are getting an OLD FASHION WINTER in the US this year. But that doesn’t stop the Marxists from demanding their Hocus Pocus to solve a CRISIS that no one with half a brain believes. This is another example of what happens with the Inmates are running the Asylum. THAT is the problem, WASHINGTON DC.

    • Aubrey Ladan

      February 22, 2021 at 2:09 pm

I think the government’s job is to make it more costly for companies to make non-green products. The globalized economy is still a market. A companies job is to maximize profits, if its too expensive to make non-green products or there are very significant government tax cuts to a green standard specifically, companies will adapt. This is not the first way Id go about this, but companies adapt faster then governments do. And unfortunately we dont have the time since we’ve been heel dragging for 15 years now.

A great example of how well this worked was when the EU set up a required energy and water rating for household appliances, companies that wanted to sell to the block still had to adapt and make better products. Now virtually all new appliances do meet those green standards. Well before every country adopted the same or very similar standards

The only area I think the government would itself need to improve is things that are very heavily federally regulated. Things like power companies, infrastructure projects. Obviously they should be investing in projects that meet these green standards. But that is only a small fraction

“Business” is going to save us guys? Did you hear that? (We’re fucked!)

“Business” is why we have this issue. The oligarchs are so desperate to keep the class warfare their talking about business will save us. Again.. we’re fucked if our ‘leaders’ really believe that.

Yeah, anyone can see these people aren’t interested in climate change. They just have a backroom deal and try to cover it up saying Trump is wrong about everything. Too bad he was absolutely right….why throw tons of money after bad. Let the scientists work on it, not the super Globalists who only lead the stupid around with a ring in their noses.

Thank God we now have good people back in the government who know how to govern. And to those who claim that they don’t like Liberals because they are elite? Please, look at how many Republican Senators and leaders we have who graduated from Ivy League School like Senator Ted Cruz and Senator Hawley. President Biden is not an elite but he cares for people. And not all elite liberals are bad like Al Gore, John Kerry, President Obama, Bill Gates, etc. They care for people. Unlike Trump who only cares for your vote so he talks like a fool and lets you die from Covid-19. He allows climate change to burn almost 1/3 of California and freeze Texas to death. Please don’t tell me it’s Biden’s fault. He has only been in the office for barely a month.

You don’t have to be in the Paris Agreement to protect the environment.
It only serves as the bare minimum the governments will do to protect the environment, which is bad.
We need to do way more than what the Paris Agreement says, and the Paris Agreement serves as a hindrance.

I would like to see John Kerry speak with Ernie Moniz about all of this, since both of them are working with Biden but Ernie Moniz left his job at the second biggest polluter to work at the White House again. Ernie Moniz wallows in fossil fuels and fracking, and doesn’t think that humans are significantly contributing to the rising temp, but that it’s the fault of the sun. I want more transparency please.

Hundreds of millions of migrant workers travel within their countries to seek out means of survival — often leaving behind all they know for months or even years. Many face poverty and exploitation, and they need a robust social safety net to protect them, says migrant advocate and 2023 Audacious Project grantee Ashif Shaikh. He shares how his grassroots organization Migrants Resilience Collaborative is making life-changing benefits like social security and health care accessible to those who need them while also amplifying migrant voices — paving the way towards a world that supports the workers actually building it. (This ambitious idea is a part of the Audacious Project, TED’s initiative to inspire and fund global change.)
