None of those, I want to put water in it, put the coffee in and turn it on and leave it. I don’t want any fancy dials or all that BS.

If you’re looking to buy something and Zojirushi makes one, just buy it.

Unless you are James Hoffman, the only thing that actually changes brew quality is the grinder. $80 for a Kingrinder and a $50 drip machine will get you 95% of the way to a four-figure Reddit setup. You can adjust the grind size to match the extraction of any machine and fix the too acidic/too bitter/too weak complaints in the video.

you didn’t set up the moccamaster beforehand…

Just to add to the chorus, I’ve had a Moccamaster for 20 years, and it’s pretty clear there’s still nothing that comes close for an electric drip machine. I prefer the insulated steel carafe, however; no coffee should be sitting on a hot plate, plus it’s more durable.

Pour over set-ups are tastier, cheaper and easier to clean than these contraptions

The best coffee maker remains a ceramic pour over topper for your coffee mug. And it’s also the easiest.

No conversation about grinder, nothing about bean quality or roast level, nothing about ratios, nothing about water quality, just 3 clueless hipsters blathering on about the most superficial taste experience of the various machines. Please explain as to why you even bothered to make this video.

16 years with a moccamaster, one service send in but other than that fantastic. If and when it fails I will instantly be buying another. I have a thermal model I prefer it to the heated plate version they are showing. It makes the best coffee.

  42. @JunkyVirus

    April 11, 2026 at 5:45 pm

Moccamaster while good are incredibly overrated, there are equally good/better machines for a lot less money, if you’re not buying it for just the brand.

Your daily coffee might be doing more than waking you up.

A new study published in Nature Communications found that regular coffee consumption may positively affect the link between digestion, mood, and cognition. Researchers also found no major change in physiological stress markers like cortisol linked to coffee consumption, suggesting coffee may not actually increase the body’s stress response under normal conditions.
