11:31 You can also jab with the end of the bat. In fact, if someone is expecting you to swing, jabbing instead might help surprise them.

I recommend having two or three scrunchy key chains with a couple of zipper locks locking them together. The key chains look like a bracelet once you attach the locks, but with a few locks, hit like a brick if you gotta swing

One thing you did not mention that I feel is important is to have shoes you can run in, heels with ankle straps, heels that fit right, no loose shoes, no slides, sandals that are secure on your feet. Also my keys are in my hand when I walk out of the grocery store, or other.

If you do for example narrowly avoid a creep targeting you in public like she described, don’t think making a police report is sufficient. Police exist to protect property first and foremost so if you’re not rich, being targeted in public is not high on their priority list. If you care about community support like she said in that answer, your first thought should be to warn your neighbors and any nearby establishments. Give them a description of the person so they can be avoided. That’ll do far more to protect your community than a police report

Not true. If you are in a domestic situation, and you’re male, you need to leave. If you strike her, you will go to jail when the cops show up. In most states they have to remove one person, and if they show up and a man and a woman have been hitting each other, the man is going to jail.

Better safe than sorry. It’s better to say leave me alone or don’t follow me to any guy because if he’s not a threat he’ll just say sorry and walkaway. I would never be offended if a woman said something to me, I’d just apologize and back away. I know I’m not a creep or criminal, so I’ll just go about my day.

    April 8, 2026 at 8:17 pm

Profilers interviewed convicted felons asking what things made people good targets. R*pists, murderers, and thieves all pretty much agreed keys don’t scare them at all. A cane, umbrella, or large purse might though.

If you feel actually threatened by this woman, and she is in a position to ACTUALLY endanger you, then by all means.

  55. @John-ir4id

    April 9, 2026 at 2:38 pm

I am severely physically disabled – a paraplegic. Seeing as how turning and running away is not a viable option, I have had to both turn my self-defenses up and my reaction tolerance. What I mean is, I carry a knife for self-defense, but the fact that the knife can be lethal, I have had to tier my responses to a potential threat – 1. If they are posturing or yelling at me, I attempt to talk and beg off. 2. If they keep coming, I brandish my knife, not as a threat but as a clear perimeter. 3. The second they grab me, they will be stabbed, not by my force toward them but by their force toward me. After which, I immediately called the police and paramedics.

Let me qualify all of this by saying that my situation, physically and legally within the city and state in which I live, is by no means universal. I have adopted this framework, and it has proven itself out in the few physical altercations I have been in and even in a court of law, where I killed an attacker in self-defense, but that does not mean I do not adapt to the situation and, as she said, adopted proportional reaction to the threat posed. The key takeaway is to train and adapt to your physical and legal environment and be prepared to explain yourself in a court of law if and when it comes to that because it very well could.

Also, if you are ever arrested after such an event: REMAIN SILENT AND CALL A LAWYER! Never assume you can explain your way out of an interrogation. You cannot. Leave that to the lawyer.

This was a funny one. lol. This young woman is definitely no expert in self-defence. She’s literally repeating Chat GPT answers 😂. “Expert” TikTokers and YouTubers are like little Trumps.. Perfectly comfortable declaring themselves authorities on things they have only basic knowledge of, publicly! Smh

49 year martial arts student and instructor here. This video has good advice. Don’t worry about what the law says you can and cannot do. It’s better to be judged by twelve people than be, carried to your grave by six.

    April 9, 2026 at 6:21 pm

10:26 my first thought was “BUST his head into the wall! kill him!”😂 i’m mostly trying to learn how to save myself without catching felonies

  67. @AYuumoriEnjoyer

    April 9, 2026 at 6:26 pm

11:10 proportional response is my problem, because as a decently strong young woman, i actually have an anger problem when i’m physically attacked. usually, my first physical reaction is a sharp increase in killing intent. that’s what i worry about.

  70. @ryhk3293

    April 9, 2026 at 7:03 pm

3:32 Everday items as self defense tools – I disagree here. Pretty much any or every everyday item can be used as a self defense tool. The human hand is at once both a terrifying and laughable tool of attack and defense. The unfortunate down side is that nearly everybody has a pair and is somewhat familiar with their usage. What you as an individual can do is take some time to consider the items that are around you and classify them into types and shapes that make sense for you and how you might use them in a way you feel most natural when it comes to self defense. It would be best to consult someone who knows or has experience in this matter, but putting some thought into it is more than what most humans have done, which puts you way ahead because here is the reality that I have observed as someone who grew up on four continents, traveling and working in multiple dozens of countries, as a soldier, humanitrian aid worker, doctor, tourist, martial artist, fighter and shiftless layabout – the person who gets in the first effective strike/blow, who is usually the person who uses a weapon, improvised or by design, almost always controls the outcome.

I watched a ton of Jackie Chan movies, I feel like I could use a chair as a weapon pretty well 😂

  79. @comtruise3150

    April 9, 2026 at 11:40 pm

Every physical demonstration in this video is completely ridiculous. They’re encounters designed to make this person look good and help her promote her brand rather than show anybody practical advice that they are supposed to make use of in a life or death situation. She says herself to be wary of advice dependent on specific strategies, and then continues to present a bunch of specific strategies that would only make things worse in a situation where they guy is not a paid, choreographed assistant whose “attacking” is just standing still and doing nothing. None of these will serve any purpose in a real, violent scenario besides maybe making things worse. Instincts for self-defense can only be improved through instruction and experience in a professional gym with accredited teachers who are accomplished in a variety of martial arts with real experience in dangerous physical interactions.

«Is it okay to hit a woman if she hits you as self-defense?»
Depends. Is it okay if you do it to a man who hits you? No? Then no. Yes? Okay, yes.

1:06 “So I first want to say that you cannot rely on anybody to come and save you; you are your first and your last line of defense (that is why training self-defense matters so much)!” -Avital Zeisler

The first part of this is one of the most important life lessons Ive ever learned. Im STILL learning it… I just had an … “experience” recently that pushed this fact!

    Don’t wait for someone else
    Make plans
    Run practices
    Get more fit
    Me mindful
    Be aware
Set up emergency trigger on your phone and watch
    Practice-practice-practice
Even practice the conversations and the responses
Remember NO is a full answer
And being aware is beneficial to others too.
Ive seen young ladies in situations they couldnt get out of so we always give them an out by pretending to know them or needing help or sometimes not even putting on a show but not instigating.

A more flowery but extremely succinct quote that says the other side of the coin of what she said is by Aristotle: Happiness Depends Upon Ourselves!

i was very pleased to see that many if not all of the moves she demonstrated are the same combinations my son has been learning at his martial arts dojo. and let me tell you what – i was helping him practice one of the self defense moves so i was playing bad guy. my skinny little 9yo flipped me with such force and so little effort that my hip hurt for a week 😂

On “situational awareness”: Swimming in the ocean means you might get bit by anything. The same applies to the land. There ARE things out there that want to harm you. A little paranoia never hurts. Rule #1: Put down your cell phones & don’t put yourself in dangerous situations. Rule #2: If someone wants to hurt you, they will go for a barrage of head shots to batter you down. As my sensai once told us so many eons ago, RUN! Only fight when you have no other choice.

i know she doesn’t want to encourage further violence or lethal strikes but if somebody threatens your life, strike their neck and eyes, that is the fastest and most effective way to ‘distrupt & disengage’. Groin hits are a coin flip, and if you are a woman you are not controlling the arm of an average man.

Remember, paying fees or jail time for defending yourself is better than dying.

    • @TawNana

      April 11, 2026 at 8:35 am

Most people in the world can’t even throw a proper kick, let alone predict and catch one in a heated moment.

In most scenarios, a low kick to an untrained attacker is more than enough to throw them off balance and escape.

  106. @7echnoid

    April 11, 2026 at 6:12 am

In general very good advice. The constant repetition of telling people to practice beforehand is key! Just a note on the first tip… I would not target the groin with the push kick. Having trained various martial arts for several years, I can say that especially if you’re untrained it will be very hard to hit if someone is moving and not just standing there waiting to be kicked. It is better to target the waist line as you then have an error margin on both sides and upwards/downwards. Key thing to remember when throwing a push kick as a novice is your balance and gaguing the range. If you throw it and are too far away you may fall over towards them, if they are too close you won’t be able to extend your leg and will therefore likely fall backwards if unaware. The push kick IS a great option though, but try it out on a tree or brick wall or something to know how it feels and how the balance feels!

As a wheelchair user, I’d LOVE a good “go-to” reactive stance to not only break freeze response but stand any chance at regaining control of my chair/etc by disrupting…or at least surprising them by my response. But I’m not sure the best use of my limbs.

    • @TawNana

      April 11, 2026 at 8:33 am

Consider carrying around a pepper spray/taser

    • @Kaalyn_HOW

      April 11, 2026 at 10:26 am

@TawNanaI do utilize those options, but they’re hard to keep accessible or in easy reach when i need my hands to push my chair. (I can’t grab it as reliably or hold it on my lap where it won’t fall.) I still have them but I’d love a solid rec for what I could do with my body if I’m not able to reach those things safely. (Letting go of my wheels abruptly can be extremely dangerous on its own, but if I’m lucky enough to be stationary or able to hit a brake quickly.)

    • @TawNana

      April 11, 2026 at 11:01 am

@Kaalyn_HOW maybe a foldable walking cane, they can be folded into the size of a pen when not in use and stretch out of a leg length when unfolded, you can defend with one hand holding it and the other on your wheels, it can also help as emergency hand brake sort of.

Situational awareness was a good “life saving habit” but I also feel very sad that this is a “survival mindset” that women have to learn, so young, and do everyday for most of us. I know it’s a self-defense video so it IS about situations when that happens and we need to be careful of…etc. but still. I feel like this is life for women everywhere. And that we are targets. And that we need to learn how to defend ourselves while we should just not have to. But life is unfair and it’s how it is, I prefer to know what to do of course. Just sharing my female frustrations haha 😅

  118. @jldisme

    April 11, 2026 at 2:20 pm

Situational awareness can also save you in other ways. Every time you enter a building or an airplane, take a moment to notice other exits (especially emergency exits). In an airplane, COUNT the rows to 2 exits, the closest ones in each direction, and make a note of it. Take a moment, to review it before landing. In a restaurant, there is almost always an exit through the kitchen. If there is a fire, AVOID the main entrance/exit if possible. There are so MANY incidents where the main entrance becomes a bottleneck, and people die. Practice this until it becomes instinctual. In a real emergency, there will be panicked people and possible smoke obscuring your view or total darkness,

This is a great video, the most important Takeaway is situational awareness.

I live in an urban area. All day every day… All day every day… I see people, including young women, wandering around town staring at their phone and not even looking when they step off a curb. I see them wandering with their phones in large parking lots next to vans and places where criminals could hide

And I’ve done it myself, stood on the corner in Reno Nevada on my telephone, until my husband pointed out that there was a small group of young men eyeing my actions.

If I see large vans in a parking lot, I park somewhere where things are more clear

I make eye contact when possible

There’s a creepy guy in our neighborhood, we all consent that he’s up to no good because of the way he is around women who pass by. He wear spandex bike shorts and touches himself when women walk by

The Neighbourhood make sure he is aware, although we can’t actually do anything about it, that we see him and we know where he is

While admitting that Sammy Franco is ‘over the top’, he has a great point about an aggressor ‘crashing the line’ – they’re not going to stand there making silly, repetitive motions; they’re coming at you like an offensive tackle in football. An attacker is going to pick their moment / area and close 20 feet in 3 seconds and tackle you like a freight train. You’re likely to get dragged into an alley before knowing what hit you. Franco’s point is that “SD training” CAN give false confidence unless you train with someone who’s going to come at you like a real-world attacker. Regular people like me and you aren’t prepared for brutal physical violence.

  149. @Thadd795

    April 12, 2026 at 4:59 pm

The thing a lot of woman don’t seem to want to accept is the physical differences are too much for half of this to be useful. The best defense against any assailant is a firearm end of story. Jocko Willink even touched on this when a female viewer asked the best method a woman can use. He said a firearm. If you’re a woman watching this, most of these self defense experts are grifters whether man or woman. If you insist on learning physical defense go to a jiu-jitsu class, otherwise just use a firearm. Also, it’s easy to say just do this groin or kick, but it doesn’t take into account the possibility of a female actively fighting off a much larger guy, and how physically draining that will become. There’s so much these videos simply don’t talk about. It’s just “place your arms here, then do this motion”

    • @MorrisseyMuse

So,the fence is complete but after thinking about it for a few minutes I decide that ya know, fences and walls are, in and of themselves, exclusionary,so to speak. They are designed to separate,to divide.. Am I sure that is the sort of message I want to send?
    I decide it is not.
The fence has to come down.
I built the entire thing by myself so there is no reason why I can’t tear it down by myself..
The question is,if I do tear it down by myself, with the help of no one, would that be considered a case of self defense?

  178. @Tellis086

    April 14, 2026 at 2:21 am

It’s always good to diversify self-defense techniques. Here in the U.S. though, SO many people carry firearms now. Best self-defense is to avoid the public but obviously, not an option for many and there may come a time when running away is not an option. But if they have a gun and you don’t and they know how to use it effectively, not much you can do other than maybe de-escalate. My first line of defense when confronted is my words…if physical violence happens right away or is about to very quickly with little/no time for dialogue, then I draw my firearm. Love your takes and yeah if pepper spray/pepper gel isn’t illegal where one lives, it’s still a top option, I’d say, especially top non-lethal option.

I have to say, this video should be summarized in: TRAINING. You have to train, body and mind for this situations.
That’s why I don’t agree with the purse for self defense. If you haven’t trained swinging it really fast and with enough power, it will let your guard open for a front attack.

  194. @BariumCobaltNitrog3n

    April 14, 2026 at 3:49 pm

If someone is staring at you on the bus or train, just say “Hello” to them louder than necessary. They might be lost in thought and didn’t notice what they were looking at. They’ll say oh sorry or hello haha. But if they’re creepin on you they’ll try to get away or just not look at you. Then you can ask them how they’re doing today, loudly, until they move away. Don’t be shy with your life.

Although groin kicks can be very effective, one must be prepared for the unexpected and weigh the options. Remember, that any kick alters the center of gravity, and is more likely to be intercepted when unpracticed. A less likely, however still possible, is a prepared attacker…such as wearing an athletic cup. 2:58

If your plan is to defend yourself with a baseball bat against a intruder….you are in for a rude awakening and would likely end up dead if the intruder wants to kill you.

The same can be said if you think that it is not ok the hit a woman who has attacked you. Some women are very strong and they most certainly can carry weapons and be perfectly able to kill you if they want to. So it is insane to think that you can not defend yourself against a woman that attacks you. Of cause you can and you should. But I agree that you should not attack at any point someone female or male, if they are no longer a threat to you.

Eye contact is necessary at times, I think people, women especially, are taught to just not make any kind of contact. I recently watched a door Ring video where the woman was unlocking her door to go inside but some weirdo comes around her back, she turned to him and looked at him and asked “what’s going on?”… it was turning around and acknowledging him that scared him.

This was decent (like B or B minus grade) advice for beginners.
Though I was nodding my head with some things said and shaking my head at some others, there’s something more fundamental to mention than quibbling about tactics, techniques, and procedures.
Anyone who just watches videos like this, and doesn’t continually take classes that involve physically testing techniques against resisting training partners is not going to retain much of this information when it becomes needed.
Train. Get physical. Seek out more training. Make it a part of who you are.

One of the first things you learn in First Aid Training is to be very spacific with orders. Say names, call them out when you want something done. This gets rid of the bystander effect. You never have to worry about if someone somewhere is calling 911 if you told a spacific person to do it immediately.
Bystander effect is sometimes the reason bad things happen in places full of people.

This self defense video seems to rely quite a bit on groin kicks, what do you do when those aren’t an option? I’ve been kicked in the balls before and the pain doesn’t initially set in until after a few minutes, and I bet adrenaline will not let it set in for a while

The simulations shown weren’t realistic at all.

    Shouting help? ❌
    Deathly scream, repeatedly ✅

    Using your bag? ❌
    Drop it and run.✅

    Pick up a chair?❌
Kick chair towards them and find more obstacles to put in the way to create more distance as you flee✅

Use a small pen like tool with a flat bottom? ❌
Use something with a pointed end or sharp edge ✅

    A push away kick? ❌
Knee towards the groin and stomach repeatedly ✅

Nice that she didnt say “Nothing justifies hitting a woman”

Almost everyone in my childhood said that to me, mostly woman, and i agreed, until a friend of mine was attacked by another girl and he didnt hit back, she ended up scratching his eye with her nails and he went to the hospital.
After that, regardless of gender, I retaliate if the person touches me.

If you’re able to land a push kick on the groin, you can land a full power kick instead. Why push their junk away and cause less pain to someone who is threatening you?

And honestly, women, your chances of causing pain and damage are probably much higher if you go for the eyes. Our fingers are pretty strong. A strong “claw” type of fist and quick jabs at the eyes will hurt. Especially if you have nails.

  245. @jed6780

    April 16, 2026 at 2:17 pm

I agree on pepper gel being the better option over spray in that you have a lower likelihood of blowback; however, it’s so much harder to aim because gel is like a thin laser instead of a thicker stream, so it’s harder to nail the attacker in the eyes/nose. I fired at a charging dog twice at close range, like 3 ft, and missed both times. And gel can still blow back some if it’s windy. So it’s a trade-off of risks: accuracy vs potential blowback. In the end, I decided on accuracy as the key priority, if i get a little spray on my lips, so be it – the attacker will get much more. By the way, don’t get those flimsy keychain pepper sprays, go for one that will fire 18 ft. It feels a little bulky at first, but you get used to it and it’s worth it’s weight in gold on a rainy day. There’s lots of crap out there, but top brands are: Sabre (get the Crossfire variant, available in spray or gel), Pom, and Fox Labs (get the 1.4). Stay safe out there!

  246. @Remainsofaruineddeadcursed-d7t

    April 16, 2026 at 2:47 pm

I think she approaches it more realistically than many who women who seek to teach women, that being said my one issue is with the hair pulling hard.

If you are grabbed by a man that much bigger and stronger than that man was to her, grappling like that may not be an option. She did attack the joint, which is good. But a strong man could power out of that, and good luck pulling that off when panicked and in pain.

Also most of the time a hair grab is to pull you much closer, or to hold you at distance so they can hit you until you give in.

You should attempt to grab one of his fingers with multiple of yours, and pull the opposite direction as hard as possible while using the other hand to defend your face. This very well could cause a grip release.

If he pulls you in close, your best weapon is your head. Use it if you can. Headbutt to the chest or face. NEVER bringing you head back and swinging in a downward motion however. This could injurr you. Always side to side, forward or upward. This is the most effective natural weapon a weaker person has.
