Hit the gym, do your daily walks, play a sport, eat clean, sleep well, and avoid bad things/people. ALL OF THE ABOVE!

@laurawilliams5357 ease into it. Find what you can do/tolerate and build from there. “Rome wasnt built in a day.”

Has anyone had success convincing a 60 something year old parent to begin weight training? If so, how?

If you yourself weight train, see if that person would come with you to just look around. Maybe if they see other people their age there (can you take them when you know there will be others that age working out?) they will see that it’s possible. The easiest way to convince someone else to do something, is to do it yourself and be the example.

If they are 60 and have injuries that prevent them from weight lifting then I recommend workouts in a pool. Water workouts can provide resistance without as much impact.

My favorite sport is dressage (horses), but I no longer ride. I’m now 62. As I age I’m considering surfing for exercise and also I have great balance since I grew up riding horses, water skiing, boating and downhill skiing …I now live in CA central coast….so surfing is very accessible to me…. I’d love to hear from others who started surfing later in life…

I love how this reminds us that strength isn’t just about looking fit — it’s about how your body and mind work together. Muscles aren’t just physical power; they’re living communication with your brain, your health, your longevity. Training isn’t vanity, it’s vitality. Move your body, and your entire life moves with it

Lifting weights is my intentional go to muscle building activity. It teaches me discomfort. There is a humility to it. Like me vs it… is intimidating and intense and for someone my age @ 60 and the anxiety I get with aging, the intensity of pushing and pulling and carrying something heavy gives both my body and my mind a challenge that I can practice over and over again and feel like I’m progressing somehow instead of fading away. It’s humbling and comforting at the same time. ❤
