Many of the old models are just as good as the new ones for most purposes like the iPhone 7+ and galaxy note 4

@John My views yes and no. Some apps may not work on older devices. A lot of encrypted apps that are used for banking or security purposes often don’t work on older devices just because the operating system is out of date and it’s not being supported anymore.

Apple has no innovation. Same phone fir 7 years if not longer, oooh big deal you tweak your cameras every year. Why people keep buying i phones is beyond me. Cant touch samsung, at least they push the envelope for new tech

I have bought the last five iPhones to get the improved cameras. And my latest one the the 12 Pro Max does a lot right. But it still does not have a viewfinder except the rear screen, which does not work as well as a real viewfinder when shooting at mid day in the sun. And there is no built in grip so you don’t drop the thing over the Grand Canyon overlook. I did get a lanyard case though when I plan to use the phone camera a lot. And for some reason the latest iPhone has big problems with lens flair when shooting outdoors in the sun. None of my camera lenses made in the last five years have this problem. And this is a big deal. Filters. Hard to put a circular polarizer on a phone. So yeah I like using my phone as a camera, but not the same as a real camera. And brings up the fact that maybe I would have been better off to buy less phones for their cameras and spent the money I saved on actual cameras. And a 200 mega pixel sensor on a phone is laughable. So you are going to clog up your system with huge huge files but still use a tiny cheap lens and a sensor with itty bitty pixels. If you really want a great pocket camera buy one of the really capable Sony ones.
