Great video. I am a long term user and supporter of BTC but I still don’t understand how one transaction takes the same amount of power as to run a household for a month. It would seem to be that it would totally cost prohibitive to run this. If you mean by one transaction, one complete block then I get it. Because I would be glad to stop sending and receiving BTC and in exchange someone just pays my electric bill every month.

This is dumb. Thank you bitcoin for the blockchain technology. But there are much better thought out blockchain s out there faster cheaper and greener. Bitcoin is the Napster of Blockchain. If it’s using that much power now less that 2% of the world using Bitcoin. Imagine once everyone uses Bitcoin. The power it would need is just ridiculous. Not to mention the fees ( the more people use bitcoin the higher the fees and the SLOWER it goes )

“It is intentionally inefficient.”
It is just so stupid that we are pumping vast amounts of energy into this. Meanwhile we face impending climate disaster….largely because of our overconsumption and inefficient use of energy. Decarbonizing the world’s energy production is going to be a hard enough challenge already. We don’t need to be wasting energy on something with no benefit to human well being.
