Many people across the world don’t have access to healthy food — while in other places tons of food go to waste. Social entrepreneur Ndidi Okonkwo Nwuneli thinks we can take bold steps to fix this problem. She lays out what it would take to build a more equitable, sustainable food system that nourishes all people and asks us to widen our perspectives before eating our next meal.

So inspiring and an eye opener. But do you really know “Twiga food” You mention? Kindly come to Kenya and do a research on it. It’s a pain to small holder farmers. It’s a scam.

We need to save the planet, regardless of how many people live in extreme poverty or die. By the way, trees are carbon neutral, including the roots of such trees.

Also, people need to be taxed on their personal Co2 emissions, that way, the elites who tell us how we need to save the planet will likely tell us that Global Warming is not the existential threat that they thought it was, when it hits them in the hip pocket they will likely simmer down.
Co2 emissions should be set up like the tax system, the more C02 an individual produces it should increase their taxes on a logarithmic scale, that should slow down the likes of Ale Gore on his Co2 emissions.

  4. Moss

    May 29, 2022 at 12:48 pm

Interestingly, this would reduce carbon dioxide emitted by us by a considerable amount.

      May 29, 2022 at 4:48 pm

Carbon dioxide isnt toxic and help plants to grow faster. We should worry about rubbish islands , toxic waste in our drinking water and general pollution. Carbon dioxide isn’t pollution yet ecoterrorist focus mostly ( I believe only is more appropriate word here) on co2 which is ridiculous. But so are ecoterrorist

I wouldn’t say soon. We can achieve sustainable abundance, but it requires us to do the development to achieve it, which will take time and civilizational will.

Putin and his ilk will be soldiers in the next life. Because there are six different incarnations, from the earth to the edge of the universe. Putin and his associates will be soldiers in the next life, because there are six different incarnations. What you do in your daily life comes back to you. If you remember, you will understand. Putin and those involved will be soldiers in the next life and will suffer. That is why we have to follow special precepts and practice yoga to avoid killing living beings as much as possible. If you kill, you will be killed and various sufferings will come back to the person who did it.

all good thoughts, but people have been trying to change food diets for decades if not centuries.
these massive profit driven junk food companies are what average citizens have to go up against.
we can’t out market or out advertise them, plus people become addicted to their salt and msg laden crap.
even Bloomberg with his money and his attempts to change new york had limited effects.
I told everyone around me at work how to eat healthier, and not a single person cared.
this is a much harder task than our efforts can achieve alone imo.
we’re going to need lots of healthy people with influence to promote this.
    a lot of them.

Abundance only occurs in a sense of profit for the wealthiest capitalists. I’m sure Bill Gates is buying hundreds of thousands of acres of farmlands so people have an “abundance” of food, right?
I checked out once she said she was from the Rockefeller foundation.

Great talk, but I would like a more detailed talk on each of her points. It seems as though she’s trying to say too much information in too little time, which is nice, but it honestly leaves me a bit confused. Also the part about young women’s businesses may have to be elaborated, otherwise it seems out of place and it is unclear what is the benefit. I like her enthusiasm!

    • Rakin Munim

      May 31, 2022 at 5:15 pm

I agree with your point about the young women’s relevance. She was trying to cover many topics in one talk and I can’t say I see the future of food because of this talk

Step one is to stop subsidizing junk food corporations like Mc Donalds, who recieve maasive subsidies and can then afford to sell junk ‘meals’ for a few dollars. Whereas a healthy meal elsewhere is $15+. They should subsidize HEALTHY food , unless of course they are trying to keep you sick to keep the healthcare system’s and big pharma’s enormous profits. Oh! Wait they are!

I’m alone and have my own policy for food waste. The is none or a little dur to the prep process. I really agree with the problem of “cheap” processed food. It causes obesity. According CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) and NIH (National Institute of Health), there are 2,034,789 more deaths from obesity related illness than firearm related injuries per year in the USA.
