Sometimes feeding just one child can seem challenging. Not for entrepreneur Wawira Njiru, who’s gone from serving lunch to 25 children from a makeshift kitchen to establishing her nonprofit, Food4Education, as a cornerstone of Kenya’s school meals system. Currently serving half a million meals to children every day, she’s now thinking even bigger. Hear about her incredible plan to serve delicious, nutritious daily meals to millions of kids across Africa by 2030. (This ambitious idea is part of The Audacious Project, TED’s initiative to inspire and fund global change.) (Recorded at TED2025 on April 9, 2025)

Growing kids need a nutritionally complete diet. If you have to take a multivitamin, your diet is woefully inadequate.

My husband bought me a massage candle that melts into massage oil. It was romantic until I realized he misunderstood the concept and tried to light it like a regular candle😛

    Let me guess.
    Keep your food, SEND MONEY?
If all these things are available there, you do it.

I’m not sure how TF “the west” can be solving hunger anywhere else in the world when the west hasn’t even solved hunger nor homelessness here in the west itself…

Partnering up with the Ruto administration to build scalable, sustainable food chains? Now that is a fairytale if i ever heard one.

I love that this is a local person solving a local problem that involves their government and local businesses. This is an effective model for long-term solutions for a wide variety of problems, I believe. I’m excited about the potential it holds for communities around the world!

I definitely agree with you BonnieShadow! I do have a similar project at hand. but it is more on computer training and digital literacy. But funding is always a problem when one begins such impactful journey for social impact.
