@mechmat12345 tbf most of the overland market can be done for so much cheaper. The same crowd interested in this is going to buy the $3k rooftop tents, $700+ awnings, and all the other hip overland gear that can be found at much cheaper price points at traditional camping stores.

@mechmat12345 tally all that up. And I don’t mean some run of mill cheap stuff that will likely break or stop working after 6 months. I mean high quality designs of that stuff (kitchen, gear shuttle, and cookware set akin to what the Snow Peak supplies) and you’ll be surprised how close in value this is in comparison).

Really nice option. Having to eventually pay $1,500 extra for the required tunnel shuttle is overkill. It should remain included

For the Launch Edition buyers, who already paid extra , the $5000 does include the required shuttle, and all the cookware.

@billy harvey not just limited to Launch Edition holders. You can opt for the Camp Kitchen and it clearly states it comes with the gear shuttle included (it literally states: “Camp Kitchen + Gear Shuttle + Snow Peak Kitchen Set” all for $5k).

doesn’t mention the number 1 reason why.
The truck is a giant battery why would we go with gas?
And have to replace propane tanks etc.
Instead he just prattles on about why a normal person would chose electric over gas cooktop.
Which doesn’t mean much in overlanding.

The only part where I thought that the prototype was better was the coffee situation. The dedicated kettle area meant that you wouldn’t be taking up an element if you are preparing something else already. I guess they felt that was a feature they could do without.
And having a French press vs a pour over is easier in a camping situation, but the cleanup of a pour over I guess is much easier if you have throwaway filters, and doesn’t use as much water to clean.

@S C it doesn’t help that the presenter didn’t know how to use it. It wasn’t designed to sit on top of the kettle. It’s supposed to go over a cup and pour hot water from the kettle.

The truck has 1500 watts of AC power available. The stove uses up to 1440 watts. That doesn’t leave enough power for you to use both burners and boil water simultaneously. Maybe they had originally planned to have more overall power available and when they settled on a 1500 watt inverter system, they decided to remove the dedicated kettle.

If someone wants it that badly, no theft deterrent in the world will stop them from breaking into your garage and into your car. Odds of that happening are LOW though. Please present an everyday common scenario, not some 1 out of a 50k chance of occurring one (and yes, that estimate is an exaggeration, in case if flew over anyone’s head).

This is such a useful overlanding vehicle. The only reason I am not considering it(or any EVs) is because of Mileage Anxiety. I hope companies make charging the vehicle similar to filling the gas anywhere.

That range set up is actually for the safe parking areas around SoCal because you’d run out of juice well before you found any acceptable park that lets drive and camp outside the paved areas. See, they towed it there, which is what you’ll have to do if you want to run the truck off road.

to be honest, the mileage anxiety goes away the first few road trips and you realize there are FAR more charging options than you realized. Still some challenges but the same energy challenges were encountered with a vehicle that consumed fuel.

I definitely don’t have anywhere near the income to spend $100K on a first gen product, and I’m not a huge fan of it being part of the Amazon world with no CarPlay and very few physical controls, but I can’t lie a lot of these utility features are super cool.

Well this was a nice tease. As a trained chef and adventure person, I would have like to have actually seen it in action, you know, cooking and such, but I guess I’ll use my imagination. I do like that it’s removable.
