Am I the only one who hates Windows 8 more than any other version?

Microsoft has been always copying macOS. This Windows 11 is another example of a quick response to macOS Big Sur 11. Ms was thinking and also said that they never gonna upgrade from Windows 10 but when Apple released macOS 11 they lose their mind and made another Windows Vista like a mistake imo.

Only Sometimes we can blame ppl for not wanting changes, but MS as a company can’t keep the old design forever we know that.

But if it is very stable, many drivers are compatible, less bloats, that would be great for MS and us.

Guys just be aware of the new settings app, it’s a big departure from the current one – it’s actually good looking but for sure a lot of users will be lost for the first hmmmpppp 1 month? 😂😅 Don’t forget the new ribbon on the Windows Explorer it doesn’t display ‘Cut’ ‘Copy’ or ‘Select all items’ anymore and instead it displays icons for saving more space but a lot of people will certainly be frustrated and will certainly “like” it as time went by.

And then me, is there a windows 11??

  38. Drew Neilson

    September 30, 2021 at 4:02 pm

    1. Microsoft isn’t forcing users to upgrade to new hardware. People whose hardware doesn’t meet the requirements for Windows 11 can keep using Windows 10 until support for Windows 10 ends in four/five years (I can’t remember). Users who *choose* to upgrade to Windows 11 before then will need compatible hardware. That is a *choice*. As I understand it, the beefier hardware is needed for Windows 11’s virtualization-based security.
    2. Sometimes UI change is good. Radical overhaul that requires everyone to relearn everything can be dangerous, and therefore shouldn’t be done needlessly, but Windows has to stay competitive with other operating systems, including ones that are mobile-friendly. My PC is a 2017 Surface Pro and I often run applications that look like they were written in 1995, with VGA-optimized text that I almost have to use a magnifying glass to read, and buttons that I can touch with my finger only if I use *surgical* precision. I appreciate what Microsoft tried to do with Windows 8–make Windows touch-friendly–and I also understand that Microsoft also made a mistake in trying to force that change on everyone, instead of having an OS that adapts its interface according to the device that you’re using, or has an interface that works well with mouse and keyboard as well as with touch.
Don’t knock change simply because you want things to stay the same, because ‘this is the way that it is always been and I want to do things the way that I always have.’ Sometimes change is good, and sometimes it is necessary. If you’re a Windows desktop user who hates change, try talking to people whom use Windows on tablets, to get their perspectives, instead of being in a filter bubble of people that say that ‘touch-friendly Windows is terrible’, ‘UWP is terrible’, ‘I uninstalled the Microsoft Store app and Cortana and made everything look exactly like it did in Windows 7’, etc.
Elsewhere online, someone was complaining about touch-friendly changes to Netflix’s app, and I responded by telling this user that I use a Windows tablet and that I appreciate touch-friendly changes to software, and this person *actually* responded by saying one thing: that my Surface “isn’t a real PC”. It sounded like a modern version of “real men use DOS” and it showed a stubbornness to accept that a device can be a PC even if it isn’t a foot or two feet tall and sitting vertically underneath your desk.

*annoyed sigh* I don’t get why people keep nagging on 8.1, its the last good windows. It doesn’t suffer from the issues windows 10 has like frequent crashes on HDD’s and even SSD’s, incompatibility with older hardware and software. Also if your not technical at all aka these people there is something called “Open-shell” which adds the start menu to windows 8+.

Windows 2000: Ultra-fast and no strange DOS stuff
Windows XP: Welcome.Your computer is getting faster.
    Windows Vista: Amazing!
Windows 7: Amazing, and a tidbit faster than Vista!
Windows 8: It works well cuz the resolution is 1080×720 and the start menu is too large before.
Windows 8.1: At least the start button is back, but it’s a bit slow.
Windows 10: It’s slow but definitely usable.

I don’t think they have learned much. There are even desirable features that have been blocked for over a decade, some that were copied from Unix/Linux but terribly flawed. For one thing my Samsung R580 laptop (2010) runs Win 10 fine but can’t upgrade because it doesn’t have the compulsory security module.
And software developers that make S/W for windows make it even worse because of their big egos and deficient design capabilities! Have you seen house many strange background processes are running that you don’t le if they are a virus or a system process? And every single app wants to install an unnecessary background process that runs even if you haven’t launched the app. Do I want My Phone? No! Do I want a Linux subsystem? No! The registry hive accumulates garbage that slows down your machine, apps leave their crap lying around wasting disk space. Do I want to couple my user profile to a Microsoft account? No! No mystery how they discussed it with “you are missing great features” it remains a HUGE marañon of privacy.

Window’s 11 will be a reletively uncontroversial an unexciting upgrade. It’s essentially just a reskinned version of Window’s 10 cumilative update. They haven’t even gotten rid of the Control Panel, system settings are still stored in several different places. That said, lipstick on a pig can sometimes make a noticable difference to a user’s experience.

Change can be good. Change for change sake is never good. Changing how to launch an application in the UI is a bad decision. It doesn’t speed things up, make easier to find, or improve anything. It is just a change for change sake. Having additional clicks or changing the location to access things like Control Panel is a bad decision. I can excuse things like Vista’s UAC as that was a change in an attempt to improve security. I can excuse need for driver changes for using more advanced hardware and increasing performance and reliability. Those are the changes users want! The one that actually improve things and not just to change how you access or do things.

I never got windows vista because my laptop was too old, but I ended up replacing my windows xp laptop in 2013 with a windows 8 PC…. and holy cow that was bad! Windows 10 these days just feels like a broken and disjointed experience, and I don’t see windows 11 as a good thing yet – but we’ll see what happens when it launches. Considering only 2 out of 15 computers running about my family support it, its not a good sign.

I just saw a poll that showed that only 38% of Windows users know Windows 11 is coming. So I truly think Windows 11 is going to be an epic fail and it’ll take forever for people to update. I wouldn’t be surprised if Windows 11 ends up being like Vista, and everyone ignores it.

  88. Don Shuflin

    October 2, 2021 at 9:57 pm

Well I am very nervous about this windows 11. Microsoft has always been a company that has very little understanding of how a user interface should work. For example, I am a keyboard person. I don’t remember the iteration, but after about 25 years of creating operating systems windows finally cut down the shut down keyboard strokes to 3. It took them decades to figure that out. The next version, you were not able to shut the device down with a keyboard. Hmmm?

Remember back in the nineties when if your computer needed to reboot, if you didn’t have a mouse connected when you restarted? ooops, no way to start up.
They have always seem to get worse and worse about things. Oh for a taste of windows NT or XP with the modern engine in it.

The worse thing about windows though? They keep removing control from the users. Can’t even choose GUI colors for years now. How lame is that microsoft ????
    Answer(REALLY LAME MICROSOFT.

You don’t deserve a capitol letter in your name, sorry.
Oh, by the way, enjoying your videos. Especially the one about Star Wars hotel. Don’t think I would shell out the dough, but it sure looks like fun.

  90. Don Shuflin

    October 2, 2021 at 10:41 pm

Back in the nineties there was a company doing research on how a user interface should work. They wanted to make a universal interface language or something like that. So everyone could understand how to use the interface.

What stuck out to me most was, when they showed a photo of the Empire State building, the Mongolian herder asked “How many sheep can it hold?”

Microsoft never understood this concept. Apparently they never will.

The worst ever experience was with Windows XP. I bought a Dell Inspiron desktop computer in 2005, after 1 year Windows XP deleted itself from the drive. I turned it on one day and huh, no OS, WTF? So I tried turning it off and on again and no OS. Ok this sucks. Called Dell, what do you know it’s in India. I waited a whole month for a Windows XP disc! Luckily I had a Ubuntu 8 at the time and installed that while waiting.

windows 11 will fail cause will leave millions of laptop running windows 10 , why i will bother to upgrade when windows 10 is good enough to use google service .. who in this days are using like explorer ? hot mail so on people no even have Microsoft account any more cause is so useless when google service give you everything you need and cause google android OS rules the Mobil internet and is so convenient just have desktop google account . so people will ended using windows 11 may be in a few years , cause windows 11 requires (Microsoft announced its Windows 11 minimum hardware requirements in June, and made it clear that only Intel 8th Gen and beyond CPU) 8th gen .? Walmart barely sell in these days 8th gens laptop so that is a example this windows 11 will be economically unreachable to many people

I feel hopeful for Windows 11. The new start menu reminds me a lot of Chrome OS. I think Microsoft is starting in the right direction, by removing a lot of the clutter and making it streamlined. I just hope it doesn’t end up sloppy like a Windows Vista release. I can still taste Vista in my mouth.

First, I am an insider/tester and have been for years. I even helped introduce Win95 for Microsoft’s corporate users. The interface is problematic and seems that Microsoft is adopting all the worst aspects of Apple. As far as older OS’s, Microsoft has almost always been terrible at putting out correct or complete information. Before WinME came out I begged them NOT to release it with the instructions as proposed. They wanted to make it Simple and not seem intimidating. So, it was released with 4 steps. If you followed those steps, you were guaranteed a horrible user experience. I install thousands of WinMe units both from scratch and as an upgrade. I had a less than 2% failure rate. Mostly because it did require some serious prep work before hand, that Microsoft did not disclose, but as a tester I already knew about. Only time will tell about Win 11, (Obviously, Microsoft didn’t stick to there won’t be another Windows name, just updates to windows 10 speech that they made) but I have to say they will be getting a LOT of blow back with these new requirements.
