I guess the AI portion is not ready for general public yet. That is the most interesting/unnerving aspect of it for me.

Why only 30 min live recording? Instagram live limit is 4 hours. Battery limited to 30 min video?

They look really good and Meta seem to have improved everything from Gen 1. The charge case looks great!

Two points stand out to me though:

    1. They seem to have focused too much on the Facebook use cases rather than just making the best smart glasses and then working out how FB can make use of the glasses.

    2. I’ve watched a few of these video reviews. None of the reviews were filmed using the glasses…

That is quite a leap from gen 1. If they’re able to achieve this much in a year then I’m waiting for gen 3 to get new ones. Hopefully by then we’ll be able to record for 1 hour straight ????

    • Silver Surfer

      September 28, 2023 at 8:50 pm

You won’t be able to record for an hour straight because of the size of the battery unfortunately..like unless they make the frames bulkier to add a bigger battery I don’t know

Apple filed a trade secrets lawsuit against OpenAI last Friday, and it’s not messing around. The complaint alleges a pattern of misconduct reaching all the way up to OpenAI’s chief hardware officer and claims more than 400 former Apple employees now work at the company. OpenAI’s response so far has been carefully hedged, and the timing couldn’t be worse with the company reportedly eyeing an IPO as early as later this year.

On this episode of TechCrunch’s Equity podcast, hosts Kirsten Korosec, Anthony Ha, and Sean O’Kane dig into what the lawsuit could mean for OpenAI’s own hardware ambitions and IPO timeline, plus a bigger theme running through the week’s news: how much should anyone trust AI companies with their data?
