He explores how improving the systems around carbon and biodiversity credits could bolster the economic viability of a green transition, offering hope for a world in which…

Why? So increase the cost of everything? That’s what you are guaranteed to have happen. Fake sun costs money, fake rain costs money, fake fertilizer costs money. Congrats a tomato now cost 27 dollars.
@feedbackzaloop
March 20, 2025 at 5:51 pm
@@Shakeysmoker1 rain falling on farms for free is a monetary loss for water supply facilities. Sun warming up an acre of tomatoes with its neutral white light can charge up a solar farm powering several acres worth of hydroponics with growth light spectrum lamps.
In the grand scheme of things, there are only land and energy. Anything utilizing those better drives the _cost_ down. It’s hype and profiteering that bump up the _price_

We have created a construct way too expensive with regulations that the only people capable of paying fines gladly, are the corporations happy that medium and small farms will eventually go bankrupt paying the same fines. Why did farming ever needed financing when it was entirely fruits of labor? Corporate lobbyist.

‘Would you risk the f…uture?’ Clearly you do. Money now we pay later.

Also, we absolutely clearly know who owns carbon credit. Carbon trading is nothing but stock market, so anyone who buys, has some. And just like company capitalization has only indirect connection with its performance, so are carbon budgets to emissions.

4:49 Very good point, who owns those agricultural emission credits? They basically don’t exist. It’s the major contraction in the Emissions Trading System (ETS): agriculture simply isn’t part of it yet. The best way to help agricultural entrepreneurs to be part of the solution is to allow them to trade their emission credits.

🌱 Incredibly inspiring and thought-provoking!
Berry Marttin masterfully highlights the paradox of modern agriculture — both a victim and a contributor to climate change. But what truly stood out was his optimistic vision: seeing farmers not just as food producers, but as environmental heroes, if given the right financial tools.
💰 Investing in carbon and biodiversity credits isn’t just a lifeline for the planet — it’s a financial revolution for sustainable farming. This isn’t about the distant future; it’s something we need to start right now.
Thank you TED and Berry Marttin for shedding light on a hopeful path forward — for agriculture, and for our Earth. 🌍
