In the dashboard mode is there a way to customize which 3-4 apps are displayed? I often find my calendar is displayed. I don’t need the information and would rather use that space for something else.

Im wondering.. is this an apple advertisement platform? I noticed a lot of apple news on your channel lately and just now I checked your latest uploads and about 40% of those are about apple. I thought this was a general tech channel but after years of enjoying u guys I’ve decided to unsubscribe bc of this bias

    • @hunterjay8331

I’d bet 40% or more cnet viewers use Apple products, so it’s more applicable to more people.

      August 9, 2025 at 10:49 am

Bias? LMAO stop treating tech companies like they’re some sort of team sport. If you don’t like Apple videos then simply just stop watching them, you can literally find thousands of YouTube videos about your favorite tech brand, grow up and stop complaining about silly things.

    • @Programmer7

      August 9, 2025 at 11:02 am

This video in particular can”t support that suspicion. There is a version of this video for Android Auto from last week in the exact same car. He even repeats some of the tips from that video in this one.

    • @gerharddamm5933

      August 9, 2025 at 1:48 pm

Unsub, who cares. But “bias” is a silly descriptor. The American phone market share is decidedly Apple heavy so of course they’ll make lots of Apple videos.

I have an iPhone and Apple Car Play in my car. But… I am concerned about the car manufacturer farming my data – both from the car and the connected phone – consolidating it and selling it to anyone who is willing to pay for it. I realize that in the EU there are laws that protect against this, but in the US it is literally “the wild west” when it comes to your data.

    So, I have a QUESTION:

Is there any way to use an iPhone and Apple Car Play while ONLY allowing video output (for maps) and audio to go to the car? No contacts, no messages, nothing else.
