this could be used for cancers that destroy certain organs, i guess the metastatic ones that just spread everywhere is a whole other beast, where the best bet is still just dreadful chemotherapy

Where did delaminating organs and adding stem cells in a jelly jar with a complex oxygenated slurry to grow a new part?

    • @averysanov7218

      April 7, 2025 at 1:04 am

Right? I feel like growing a single organ from a patient’s own cells is much more humane and resource-conscious than this. Raising an entire creature for each procedure feels wasteful of time, money, and the pig’s life.

  13. @WafflesIsTheStuff

I can’t help but think that raising a pig like this would be the closest thing i’d have to a son.

    Absolutely Incredible stuff !

Transhumanism has always been on satan’s plan. In the end times, he will succeeded in it because people have abandoned God.

  20. @averysanov7218

I would love to see this become a real option for patients as long as we can ensure the pigs are raised humanely, which is the problem for me right now. It seems very inhumane to raise any animal in a completely sterile and “controlled environment”, especially animals as intelligent and sociable as pigs. Also, are both kidneys taken, or just one? What happens to the pig after the surgery? It looks like there are definitely some ethical and logistical issues to work out before this can become a more widespread and effective procedure.

Wild to think we’re living in a time where gene-edited pig kidneys can save human lives. Science fiction is turning into science fact—can’t wait to see how far this goes!
