Reddit’s Model for a Better Internet | Steve Huffman | TED
The internet was created to connect us, yet many people feel more alone than ever. Reddit cofounder and CEO Steve Huffman explores how social media rewards performance over participation — and offers a timely case for an internet built like a city, with thriving online “neighborhoods” that make space for real human connection. Ready to…

How to Invite Creativity into Your Life | Rose B. Simpson, Debbie Millman | TED
What do you hear when you sit in silence? For artist Rose B. Simpson, that question is the beginning of all art. She comes from a line of ceramic artists stretching back generations and, as part of her multidisciplinary work, she also builds custom lowrider cars. (If that sounds like a contradiction, that’s kind of…

12:10 why is there commentary at the end? That’s not how @TED works… get up on the stage with the speaker, or make a separate video. Mixing it into someone else’s talk is wrong!

I gave up on reddit during ‘The Donald’ and r/news being moderated by cranky conservative children.
To me, reddit is the website “By Kids For Kids!”.

Reddit builds community by banning until social cohesion.
No thanks.

Yeah, I would love for reddit to be a place for humans, but unfortunately it has become increasingly filled with AI bots trying to steer public opinion on every topic under the sun. This is some real whitewashing from the CEO to try and steer the conversation into treating reddit as a space for humans rather than the reality that nearly every conversation on there is heavily manipulated by anonymous automated actors. Once you realize how cheap and easy it is to run these bots, you’ll see that there is a huge incentive for those with the knowhow to influence public opinion in their favor.

Better Internet? Reddit? The same place where nudity is thrown at kids with just an innocent search keyword? Sure, why not.

Is that a joke? Reddit of all things? So better model for internet is to … censor 1/3rd of users in multiple forums because one-sided leftist reddit gods (mods)?

Reddit allows the most vile content onto their site. The amount of subreddits that are just people getting off to abuse and violence.

Get rid of the social media giants like reddit, bring back IRC and message boards.

You mean the Usenet (IRC and Usenet actually still exist).
@nonnayerbusiness7704
June 22, 2026 at 8:40 pm
@TheTuubster Usenet was a spam filled cesspit last time I checked, though, so presumably also filled with bots. An active, well moderated message board around a niche subject is the way to go. Unlike reddit, you have to have the interest before you find the message board, which tends to filter out the bots and extremist ideology pushing sock puppet accounts.

reddit is a borderline leftist extremist group at this point. people on there literally advocating for violence and death.. been on reddit over 13 years now and its nothing like it used to be. nothing.
the worat part is the upvote/downvote system, all it does is supress real discussion and create echo chambers. reddit is the worst.
