Phones are essentially the same, potentially worse no? The fact you wouldn’t even suspect someone with a phone of spying? Someone could record you & be like oh no sorry I’m looking at reels, or just not be questioned. I get there’s less movements I guess fair arguement though. We already have cameras always pointed

nope. once majority has these devices, then it’ll just be the same as it was at the dawn of smartphones. people aren’t special. data confirms that majority of the population is near the exact same

You forgot to say the the Meta Band it can be use without the glasses, as a input device for the interface for many other devices (not only from meta).

I like the idea of the glasses that you plug into your phone or laptop that gives you a VP type experience. That’s what I want. The others are a bit overhyped to me. My ear buds can translate languages and it’s much easier to get directions, info on my phone. Getting smart glasses for that just seems so redundant. With that said, I do think there is a market for the more simple ones like the Meta Ray bans. They are simple, have cameras and can do basic AI, but are not trying to do too much. It’s the display ones that I think are over hyped. Maybe that tech would work well in the enterprise or the military, but for the average person, they will just pull out their phone!

I just reviewed the RayNeo X3 pros on my channel. They’re the best ones I’ve tested so far but I haven’t got to try the new android XR things

You have zero conception of what these devices are. The only thing that they have in common is that they are face mounted displays, that’s it. Saying the Apple Vision Pro competes with the Meta Rayband Display or this new Google Prototype because they are face mounted displays is like saying a Laptop competes with your device because they are both mobile devices with built-in displays. The Apple Vision Pro is a Mixed Reality headset, meaning that they have awareness of your reality. They scan the area around you and has processing to know the environment you are in. Meta Raybands Display and Xreal are portable face monitors with ZERO awareness of the space around you. People watching this would actually have negative information with the way you made this video.

@AdamKontras I agree, the holy grail is in the middle and they are approaching the problem from opposite ends, but the types of customers looking for the Xreal Air in the current conception do not have a lot of overlap with the type of customers looking for the Apple Vision Pro in its current conception.

I like the technology but the two companies that have done the least to earn my trust with my personal privacy rights are Google and Meta. I’m a hard pass on using this tech from either.

I would absolutely buy a pixel smartwatch if it had that same tracking capability like the meta displays. More purpose than just a wristband, and nice interactive capabilities.

I’m blind, but I’m still interested in AR – and smart glasses in general – as long as the technology comes with some kind of “screen reader” that would allow me to use it with hand gestures – like how Meta has its Neural Band. I’d be hesitant to buy from an American company, though. I subscribe to a European AI company called Envision. I’m really happy with my Ally Pro subscription! They’re not as advanced as AI companies like Meta and Google, but their stuff super accessible and I’m hoping that they start introducing more features in the future.

Honestly, I think tech is moving too fast and there is going to be some backlash at the constant progression and intrusion of tech innovation. Putting aside the economic issues facing the US and world right now.

i’d go with google (meta/facebook… never ) if they apply a magnetic power/data cable to the glasses (until batteries and onboard processors are more powerful), and if they’ll magnetically accept prescription lenses. AND the camera will need an obvious cover option, so you don’t become a social pariah. not incorporating one was partly responsible for google glass failing to gain market acceptance. repeating that mistake now would be just dumb.

I’m going to get the Meta raybans to take pictures and videos of my travels and wait for the gen2 of whatever Google is doing with theirs as gen 1 will always be crap
