Do you have a modern phone, tablet, or computer?
Yeah. You’ve got this already. Siri, google, Cortana, bixby, Alexa … it’s all the same thing.
Amazon knows just about everything about you from your searches. So does google. So does Facebook.
But, if amazon hears you want a 5 minute timer, or to know what year the first Matrix movie came out, or that you want to hear a specific song …. THAT is what sets all of this over the edge for you?
And, now with more advanced AI more companies will be building a profile about you to sell to others.

This is silly fear mongering. And, it’s based on the same things people have been saying since these came out 15 years ago.
This is really dumb.
How many times has THIS channel said that they ALREADY listen to every single thing you say.
You have a phone. Your phone has this same functionality. But, the echo is a bridge too far?
Other AI systems absolutely blow the Alexa AI out of the water. What do you think people even access these for with private info they don’t want Amazon to know!?
I use one. I use it daily. Play music. Set a timer. Remind me of this thing at this time. Do this math problem so I don’t have to type it into a calculator. Answer this trivia question so I don’t have to type it into a browser.
Seriously, what’s the fear?

I’m confused. How is this different from how Echos have always worked? Aren’t all the commands you give to Alexa devices *already* sent to the cloud? How else could it work? Anyone who’s ever had their Internet go out knows that Alexa devices can’t really do *anything* without the cloud.
