Samsung Galaxy S25, S25 Plus Review: AI Finally Makes Itself Useful
Samsung’s latest Galaxy phones share a striking resemblance to the S24 and S24 Plus (and many of the same specs). But features like Audio Eraser, AI Select and Generative Edit help AI features feel less frivolous. Read the CNET Review here: Galaxy S25 and S25 Plus Review: Just Enough AI to Not Make Me Go…

@@vedanshchn No. Samsung said it has no plans to charge for AI. It has to mention it being free at least until 2025 for legal reasons. Some AI features are powered by partners like Google, so they have to be correct legally.

Many people are overlooking the fact that in some parts of the world, S24 base models last year had the Exynos chipset instead of a snapdragon. And that alone makes it worthwhile for some to consider upgrading to S25 base models because they had skipped S24 altogether last year waiting for this year’s. The real comparison of whether it is a worthwhile upgrade should be from S23 to S25 which both are snapdragon chipsets globally. Not comparing with S24.

After spending a year with an Ultra Samsung, I’m DEFINITELY switching back to the base models. I’ll just fill the screen-off memo shaped hole in my heart with a Samsung tablet.
@abraral-heeti
February 4, 2025 at 1:01 pm
There really does appear to be less of a reason to spend SO much more on the Ultra, especially with the S25 lineup! So many similarities across all the phones, from the processors to the 12GB RAM and all the AI features (but I understand the appeal of that larger screen and the S Pen, too)

I don’t trust reviews focusing on AI and OneUI 7 features, as they will certainly all come to the older models. So, it misleads consumers, and unbiased, fair reviewers should not be seen as marketing machines for big companies. If AI is a BIG thing for a reviewer, it is gimmicky mainly for the rest of us, but if so, then have a separate video running through these features.
Then, concentrating on the hardware, we see what Samsung has improved- its refinement over innovation or genuine upgrades. The SoC is better, but that is the case every year and for every flagship, so not discerning. The battery remains at 5000mAh. The cameras are the same apart from the ultrawide, and I rarely, if ever, use that; updating the 3X would have been more helpful. A few design tweaks that 75% of us will not notice as we use cases. No IP69 unlike rivals, the loss of BT on the S-pen, and only 12GB of RAM in this AI age when the Pixel got 16GB last year are obvious negatives for some. However, the price is the ultimate deal-breaker. For those with older phones and/or poor trade-in deals, then £1250 for the base model is a hefty price tag when you can buy the OP13, Magic 7 Pro and others for £350 less.

S25 plus should’ve been priced lower as it is basically regular S25 just bigger, $200 doesn’t justify just a bigger phone imo. I think $900 to $950 is more appropriate.
