We Tested the Motorola Razr Ultra for 5 Days and Have Thoughts

Motorola pulled out all the stops for the newest member of the Razr family. It has a top-of-the-line processor, a trio of 50-megapixel cameras, tons of AI and it’s more durable. But it also comes with a $1,300 price tag, which is $300 more than the Motorola Razr Plus. Read the full review on CNET.com…

I don’t really get the appeal of foldable phones. Do people buy them just because they’re more compact? It seems like it would get annoying to constantly flip it open. I guess it’s more about looking trendy than being practical. A foldable phone that turns into a tablet makes more sense to me.

    • @toocalm9800

      May 15, 2025 at 9:13 am

Not at all actually. Easier to carry around in hand or pocket. Can be closed with video playing on the front screen. Also protects the screen better vs a dropped phone when folded.

You don’t even have to open the phone, did you look at the video or just instantly complain 😂😂 childish

    • @sunnygee5521

      May 15, 2025 at 2:02 pm

Lmao. Annoying to open up is the single laziest thing I have ever read. Do you complain about chewing food or just stick with liquids for convenience. FFS. The things people willingly present to others leads me to genuine concern for collective future. Cooked. Stir fried. These people vote and procreate.

    • @davidjacobs6244

      May 15, 2025 at 9:47 am

I doubt whether that is possible if you want it to fold without breaking the screen. They may be able to minimise it in time but probably not eradicate it completely.I doubt that even Apple will be able to do that despite the rumours saying that they will.

    • @nhoffman0677

      May 15, 2025 at 11:43 am

You literally can’t see it head on, and you more or less forget there is even a crease when scrolling.

    • @kpnitrl38

      May 15, 2025 at 12:27 pm

I truly believe this feat of NO crease will eventually happen and soon.

My friend you sound like an Ad for Motorola, this is not good. You are supposed to be independent. I ordered the Razr 60 handset they just released and instead of taking my order they charged my bank account $2800 and no order was created. Now several days later and a number of calls to their customer service, they still have not refunded $1400 and still no order. this company has ZERO service, not even basic, and I am sorry but please stop talking about the crease and start talking about the zero service because people have much more use for that and this company has zero customer support. Please also let everybody know that the company is not really Motorola, it is Chinise-owned Lenovo that owns them, Motorola sold them . So stop saying Motorola this and Motorola that because there is no Motorola involved, just the brand name they bought. That great team that created the original RAZR, does not exist, it stayed behind with the mother ship.

    • @mister_stang

      May 15, 2025 at 6:04 pm

2800 in this economy is insane. I would throw a fit to the point of seeing if you could get a discount for the trouble.

    • @christoscostandinides4006

      May 15, 2025 at 8:35 pm

@@mister_stangI complained and I asked for my money back and a phone for free. Motorola responded and said they sent the details to their customer service team, the same team that created the problem. Crickets so far not even an email or call from them and they still hold my money. These people are incompetent beyond belief. Meanwhile cnet is acting as their marketing agent. 🎉🎉🎉🎉

The price increase is only because of tariffs. In the UK, the Ultra is priced at £1,099 – which is only a £100 increase from the previous year.

    • @anaguma90

      May 15, 2025 at 1:03 pm

      “only”

    • @techjedi2878

      May 15, 2025 at 1:47 pm

1099 GBP converted to US currency at 1.33 exchange rate is $1460.48 USD. So its more affordable in the US and not likely affected by tariffs.

    • @MrCheesegr8r

      May 15, 2025 at 2:01 pm

      It’s not a tariff issue

    • @dankdc5_

    • @bkeaver644

      May 15, 2025 at 3:29 pm

The tariffs don’t have anything to do with the price increase

  10. @nhoffman0677

    May 15, 2025 at 11:57 am

There seems to be more innovation happening with foldables than with regular phones, and companies are pushing each other, which is good for the consumer. I had the Samsung Flip in 2023, and then went to Razr+ last summer. The Razr+ last year was an improvement over the Flip, and I think others would agree with me. My guess is Samsung will come out strong this year, and the cycle will continue. Their are rumors that Apple will enter the foldable market in the next two years, and that’s only going to keep pushing things.

  11. @joshwalker954

    May 15, 2025 at 12:05 pm

Good video but I never understand the price impacting a score. That is up to the person and their bracket has nothing to do with the hardware you are reviewing. Just my hot take.

foldables are a no-no until they offer no question phone replacements for next to no extra money. They can either improve durability or insurance. Nobody cares who makes them, they are a commodity at this point.

The seven years is nice but who keeps a phone for longer than 3 years as the battery will by then be useless just like iphone batteries are after 2 years ,i still own the original fold in pefect condition and a 97% battery which is cool but no more updates , that i find crap spend over 2000 and you expect updates for longer , the folable iphone will cost above 3000 and after 1 major update it works less just wait and watch
