Can anyone tell me what an arm based Mac means? Im not really sure

    • Morbus

      August 6, 2020 at 7:33 pm

It’s basically Apple’s own silicon like they have been using in iPhones and iPads for years. They will be using these chips on upcoming Macs instead of Intel like they’ve been using for 15 years. Should be a drastic boost in both speed and energy efficiency.

    • Viewtiful Hoe

      August 6, 2020 at 7:44 pm

Morbus thank you! That makes sense. I stream using my base model 2019 MacBook Pro. I love macs but the Mac gets so hot while I stream. I’m wondering if I need to switch to pc or get a more upgraded Mac

      August 6, 2020 at 11:26 pm

@UCtBrEgmx8Zkgmu0Se1S5QPw wait for Arm based macs. The Intel is what causes the overheating. With arm based macs, it will be cool since it is very power efficient. Get it? NO MORE HOT MACS AND FANS! Like iPad but with that huge spaces inside laptops and iMacs, more battery can fit in and GPU etc. Like iPad extreme. No fans, no noise. No fans means thinner macbooks or more battery or more hardware. There’s currently no product like that in the market…they all heat up and needs fans.

Manny M. I’m really excited for that I hope it lives up to put expectations. I’m def going to wait before buying next years macs tho

Will another iMac be released this year? One with Apple processors maybe?

Let’s admit it, who really is gonna be use this to do CAD, edit 4K or any nice YouTuber activity? Probably small niche YouTubers who are doing reviews of the iMac itself. Most people I know with iMac, they only go on Facebook and check their Gmail.

  9. Mehdi Adlany

    August 6, 2020 at 7:36 pm

They could have updated the design but they chose not to. They want the upcoming ARM Macs to come amid much fanfare. Simple.

Do you think is better to buy the MacBook 13” with the i7 10th 32 ram 1 tb or 16” the i9 2,3 ghz option with the 8gb 5500M and 1tb? For university to study an engineering but also at home(programming). Which should I buy? Both have the same price.

Thank you for this informative video. I for one will wait for the newer iMacs next year or possibly the year after only because financially I just can’t afford a new computer right now.

Hey Apple, 2012 called they want their design back.

  24. gb997

    August 7, 2020 at 12:46 am

i feel like apple doesn’t really need to bundle the screen and CPU in the design. and that they only do so as an engineering flex. …. if the screen was seperated maybe it wont be so heavy, and could pivot it’s height vertically.

Same old $hit and still no WiFi 6 on “new model”. A real refresh is long overdue. Will maybe look again after migration to Apple processors- if I can hold out that long.

  34. Dee Winn

    August 7, 2020 at 8:24 am

Personally, I believe this 27″ imac refresh is a really good deal. If you need a new imac now, you could get this one, or the alternative is waiting 4 months for Apple ARM to come out, give another month for reviewers and tech ppl to figure out all the kinks that come with that. After that it would probably be worth waiting for the gen 2 Apple ARM in phase two of their product upgrades 6 months later.

By that time its already a year later and you’ll still probably be waiting on a new, decent 27″ imac. If you go with this one, you already know how it works, you know the pros and cons of the Intel chips. Yeah the design may be a bit outdated but I don’t think that matters when you’re talking about reliability. Not to mention all of the software still catching up to Apple ARM.

You have the new imac on the table and instead of benchmarking it you talk about the apple page and its specks – which was covered a few days ago by every reviewer on youtube…

Does this support connection to two more monitors through thunder port?—just answered my own question. Btw bezels don’t bother me. I’m excited about the new updated graphics cards.

  47. William

    August 7, 2020 at 6:55 pm

A computer for arty types with zero changes to its aesthetics, that would really appeal to arty types. Even just offering it’s same chunky bezel design but in a new colour woulda have showed they kinda gave a dam.

  48. William

    August 7, 2020 at 6:58 pm

13 year old design, does it still overheat and collapse just by looking at it?

  49. Billy Boy

    August 7, 2020 at 7:12 pm

Good review. Good info. I’m not into changing stuff if it works and that includes the design. Obviously I’m satisfied the latest iMac. I’ll probably buy it.

Apple sent me a defective 2019 computer on the heels of releasing this one 😂. Sending that sucker back and getting this one, hopefully no lemons.

The question is… Wow, this new iMac looks incredibly nice. I want that hardware, but if I don’t want to use MacOS, can I install Linux or Windows on it?

  55. David Ko

    August 8, 2020 at 8:48 pm

If you could edit video in 8K and have a picture display at 6K, how come the front-facing camera isn’t at 6K or even at 4K? When 4K technology has been out for a while now? Come on Apple.

    • Trevor McNally

      August 8, 2020 at 10:57 pm

What sort of premium web-cam service are you streaming with a 6k cam?? 🙂

    • David Ko

      August 9, 2020 at 12:04 am

@Trevor McNally I just meant if that monitor could do 6K picture quality then lets see other people in 6K or 4K quality. People want better picture quality than 1080p. The front-facing camera is better than 720p, and 1080p is good too, but I 4K would be better.

  56. David Ko

    August 8, 2020 at 8:53 pm

Oh, and when is Apple going to come out with 24-bit or 32-bit audio? That’s like Ultra Ultra HD audio sound? Come on Apple its almost 2021!

  57. Minimax

  58. Trevor McNally

    August 8, 2020 at 10:33 pm

Windows PC: same design since 1980.
Apple’s Bezels: same design since 2013

Consumers: OMG the bezels need to get updated!

  61. Vince M

    August 9, 2020 at 8:05 am

Why does it feel like the iMac has had the same design for the last 10 years? Also why does it feel like they *still* plan on charging over a grand for this same tired design??

  62. Koos Swart

    August 9, 2020 at 12:27 pm
