The Copium surrounding the Switch 2 is insane. “I’ve been mostly playing MarioKart World” because there is nothing else to play. I can play everything else on my Steam Deck or Switch 1.

i never had the switch 1. and when they announced the switch 2, i figured i could wait a couple years until then. sure i’m not happy about the price, but i was still planning for the worst of $500 even base w/o a game bundle. i still think they could have kept it at $400 and probably overreacted with the tariff’s.
but i’m still enjoying it, got botw switch 2 edition and it looks beautiful handheld or docked. even without an oled. the bigger screen, 120fps, and hdr looks great. i also got pokemon eevee, shield, and super smash bros and enjoying all. need to pace myself with all the game i want before i go broke, lol.

I just returned mines after the first day. I’ll wait for the OLED model or Steam Deck 2. For me the Switch 2 is like buying an Nvidia RTX 4070 or 3050 and playing PC games on a $100 monitor you caught on sale. The Switch 2 seems TV console first, handheld console second unlike Switch 1. Battery was also an issue for me; I played 30-45 mins baseball and downloaded some games. The battery went from 100 to 67 percent. I also said to myself you just paid 500 for 1 game, you haven’t done that since PS3. Switch 2 is definitely a wait system, but we tell ourselves we need it now. Companies like Nintendo laugh all the way to the bank.

I don’t know how anyone can see this screen without all the internet noise and think ‘this is bad I want to go back to my switch OLED’. The screen is so much better. I didn’t even know about this smeary business till DF pointed it out and I still can’t see it for myself lol. No one even knew about this ‘issue’. Go enjoy gaming and stop whining online.

I think people were noticing it playing cyberpunk driving sections and other games with fast motion. That said its mostly something visual experts would notice more than your average gamer. I think the HDR TV setup is more of a concern to the average gamer and has been more noticeable. I don’t like the idea that we’ve been given cheaper components so Nintendo can maximise its profit margin even if most gamers don’t notice.

@@akg7873the docked setup process for TVs is flawed and doesn’t always make use of a tv’s full colour pallet. Some people found weird things like when TVs try to match the highest frame rates (120hz) it can make colours reproduction look washed out. People were just turning HDR off or fine tuning the settings to get around the problem.

Ha I was unsure on the chat but this segment really sold me! I don’t understand why ppl care about the resolution as it’s intended only to add a bit of immersion with the speaker and not a detailed look at their game. I would never waste time using discord over this on Switch as this is so dead simple and has everything you would need to interact . There is no value add to using anything else
Also I would not advise anyone to wait. Prior to it coming out ppl were endlessly going on about Switch’s poor performance and how under powered it is. We’ll no longer. There’s nothing to wait and see. It is significantly more powerful in every way and who in their right mind would want to play BotW or Hogwarts or attempt games like Cyberpunk on that 8 year old system. The entire back catalog is still available, but now everything looks and plays better.
Not sure what ppl are waiting to see with S2 games. Obviously they are coming and you now have access to 3rd party games S1 just can’t run. We wanted bigger and stronger with backward compatibility, and we got it. Why on earth would anyone choose battery life over visuals and performance. Also, don’t hold your breath. I doubt any improvements to the battery will be around the corner on refreshed models.

In playing Mario golf super rush and Mario tennis aces with my son over WiFi the games slow down or freeze up or close at times. This rarely happened on the switch 1. I question whether there is a hardware problem. This should not be happening. There is nothing wrong with my WiFi.
