I won’t lie, describing it as ‘a golf cart crashing into the great pyramids’ definitely made me want to see this even more! (And don’t worry, when they knock it off course, Dimorphos will still maintain its orbit around the larger Didymos asteroid, so it won’t suddenly come hurtling towards Earth!)

    • Redcoat‘s Renaissance

      November 27, 2021 at 8:51 am

The point is the larger mother asteroid Didymos will have its course slightly changed through the perturbation of its satellite Dimorphos thru the collision. Didymos was no danger to the Earth and now within the next few years it will be. They should have left well…alone or at least better surveyed these asteriods before smashing into them. Are we sure they didn‘t include a nuke in the package…would they even tell us?

It’s very wrong to take ur first driving lesson in 2 cars. With a binary system, any thrust U attempt of the asteroid, will be affected by the moonlet it orbits. Akin to playing billiards ricocheting 3 balls instead of 2. A slight error of aim will magnify it’s wrong course.

    KJV Colossians 1:16-17
16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Foolish to play experiments with an asteroid that does pass close to Earth, just a wobble of the small orbiting partner could make the larger mother asteroid change course to collide with Earth. Foolish game and arrogantly assuming their simulations will get it perfectly right, they don‘t know the density variation, geology and fracture characteristics of the target. As always with data…garbage in…..garbage out! We may have 2 years only to figure how to do this right after this self destruction mistake 🥺😞 They won‘t tell they screwed it up….so…for political reasons….you won‘t know it until its too late.
