The only one that matters is that Samsung doesnt support Dolby Vision so its a no-go.
@hammygaming8278
June 20, 2026 at 12:12 pm
For disc users I’d say yeah but it’s not a huge difference, if you stream content then you ain’t getting a better deal
@AMDman18
June 20, 2026 at 1:54 pm
@hammygaming8278Even for disc users, the difference between DV and HDR10 when you’re comparing high end models like this is negligible at best. I went from a Sony TV that had DV to Samsungs that don’t and the Samsung looks better because it has better panel tech. That’s all that matters, not supported HDR formats
@hammygaming8278
June 20, 2026 at 5:31 pm
@AMDman18agreed, so many people think DV is the be all end all, but these new high end TVs literally prove otherwise, it’s more because it’s the more known then to then it’s magically the best without actually knowing much
@AMDman18
June 20, 2026 at 5:42 pm
@hammygaming8278Yeah it’s all marketing and misinformation. I see people almost every day on reddit who think if their TV doesn’t support DV then they won’t get any HDR whatsoever
@hammygaming8278
June 20, 2026 at 6:20 pm
@AMDman18it’s crazy what people believe from trends, I’ve got the Samsung s95h and compared to my mates g6 it destroys it when we compared hdr quality

$3,400 and then you find last year’s G5 is a grand cheaper 😅 I’m team LG for blacks, but Samsung’s art mode is lowkey tempting.

It may not be clear to some but the LG gallery’s are artwork TVs too and the bezel effect is incredible. Samsung are standing out from the crowd, they’re catching up

Does CNET not have proper editorial. How are you incorrectly stating that the LG G6 is a two-stack tandem when it is a 4 stack tandem, and those vents on the S95H are not for cooling, they are speakers. Also that CIE chart looks like the TV is clearly in DCI P3 and you’re measuring 709? Of course its going to be inaccurate when you put the TV in the wrong mode, samsungs come out of the box in auto and RTINGs have it at a pre calibration score of 0.83 which is insane and has been corroborated by other reviewers. This just appears to make the TV look as bad as possible. The real answer is SDR = G6 HDR = S95/S99H
@davegamingr1

Yeah, the color checker was a huge red flag. Everyone has lauded its accuracy. Its not just randomly inaccurate. I noticed the P3/709 thing just like you said.

Why does cnet hire people who know nothing about tvs to talk about tvs. The Samsung is a QD OLED panel which uses blue light and quantum dots to produce colors so it has a better color volume than the LG. The LG uses white light along with a 4 stack tandem to improve color it has less color volume than the Samsung TV but white does look better on it. FYI Samsung stepdown model the S90H uses a LG WOLED panel and this model the Samsung S95h uses the samsung QD OLED panel.

Samsung doesn’t support dolby vision, it ends there for me. Besides, the black level raise in any bright condition destroys the superb contrast that’s a big reason why we like OLEDs so much. Plus, the bezels are horrible. I don’t get samsung. This could have been the winner tv of the year, but it busted because of bad decisions. If cheap TVs support dolby vision, it’s not that expensive to license. The bezels are totally a choice. And the matte tech of the panel, that destroys black levels while watching tv during the day, even tho0ugh heavily criticized, was kept.. It’s like they’re actually choosing to be bad.
@davegamingr1
June 20, 2026 at 8:46 pm
The black level raise isn’t very noticeable in real content. The S95F sold like hotcakes last year, better than the G5, and that says a lot. Bezels are a non-issue once you get used to it. You have to realize, the majority of people who buy the s95H level tvs are not enthusiasts; they are art collectors, rich folks, etc. Rich people like different things.

Interesting to see LG clobber one of their own model names. There was already an LG G6 OLED TV 10 years ago.

You probably need to retest the G6 after the updates then because it’s very bright
