I held onto my mini for as long as I could. After a few software upgrades and and even with a battery health of 94% in 2025, it just didn’t hold up anymore. Battery want holding up for my use. I loved my mini…

You would think Apple would take notice of the cult following this phone has and update it, even just the battery. I make lemonade out of the shorter battery life by forcing myself to only use my phone purposefully and lower my screentime.

This is a telltale sign that an iPhone has been refurbished with non-genuine Apple parts. It’s not just Apple. most brands go through similar refurbishing processes. Be cautious when buying from sources like BackMarket. The phones have always already been set up and come with cheap charging cables…..
There’s a good video on YouTube if you search around, where someone opens up several phones to check how they’ve been refurbished. Most of the time, the phones are poorly refurbished using non-genuine parts.

Great video! About nine months ago, I downsized from a 13 Pro to the 13 Mini too and life has been so great. The phone does not weigh you down and it’s easy to type one handed. Battery is a thing, sure, but the whole point of the Mini is to be less distracting. I feel more productive with the Mini 😊

Got my lovely Product Red 13 Mini just under 2 years ago, mint condition, with a 100% battery. I was considering getting something newer, but the 16e and Air were both underwhelming. I refuse to get a newer phone with less features.
Thanks for the content.

I bought an iPhone 12 Mini when it was released in 2020 and used it for three years before giving it to my father. I regretted parting with it and then used the iPhone 15 Plus, 16, and 17, but I wasn’t happy with them. I searched in stores and found a used one on AliExpress with 64GB of storage and 94% battery health. I was so happy when I got it back.

13 Mini user here, needing either a battery update or going in for an upgrade to a 17 base model. Love the mini’s small size. But, as a photo enthusiast, am intrigued by new model’s photo qualities.

Totally agree, my 13mini has 18.7.3 on it and no way i’m gonna update to the 26.2 thats out now. Running great on 18. Apple didn’t design the mini to run the new OS efficiently.

In terms of the actual battery you should go for the 13 Mini but it is a little outdated in some features you would want to use

This phone was great during the pandemic for me. For the year I had it I was basically at home for college and it always said on its charger pretty much all day anyway. But yeah once I started going back in person to classes the battery didn’t hold up as well. Yes, I could have carried a charger but I ended up upgrading to the 14 pro Max. Now I have the 17 and I think it’s the way to go. Smaller than the promax but bigger than the mini.

I had an SE2020 or SE2. I bought it in Oct of 2020. It lasted until Dec of 2025 and was only bricked when I was urged by APPLE to upgrade from ios 18.5 to IOS 26.0. I have decided to buy the Android moto G15 4G and it cost me $117.75 USD here in Australia. It’s assistant is so much better than SIRI ever was. My plan is to hold this until September of 2028. The SE4 or 16E was voted the BUST of 2025. I am so disappointed with APPLE falling so far behind I may never ever return to APPLE ever. No wonder Warren Buffet sold $120 Billion of his APPLE stock early in 2025. I can understand why now.

I’m still using my iPhone 12 mini (which I bought new years ago) The battery life is not the best, but I’m not on my phone every hour of the day. I don’t watch online videos on my phone and have very few social media.
I just love that it’s so easy to fit in my pocket. I’m Gen X and I remember when it was a trend for phones to be as small as possible.
If Apple ever decides to make a mini again, It’ll definitely buy it. But until then, I’m sticking with my Mini 12

DO NOT – DO NOT – DO NOT buy a ‘refurbished premium’ phone from Amazon with a 365-day return window. I purchased two iPhone 13 minis from them and they arrived okay. We used them for a couple months before realizing we missed the new cameras so we sent them back in the exact same condition. Amazon took over 2 months to update the refund status then said we needed to contact them which we did. They promised a refund in 3-5 days which never happened, and we had to keep requesting this many times over several weeks. They still did not refund so we opened a dispute with our credit card and they responded saying they delivered them as promised (which was not disputed). It took another 3 months of back and forth with our credit card company to finally agree we did in fact send them back after showing them the return delivery confirmation from UPS. Amazon is a trash company that relies on people getting tired of their delays and just give up. While it is likely we would not be able to avoid them 100% in the future, we will most definitely never purchase anything expensive like this again from them. Amazon sucks so incredibly much!

This is such a great device. Apple is so tone deaf.
Pro tip: do not update to iOS 26. Stick with 18, turn off automatic updates. It can run 26, but it’ll struggle. It runs 18 way more efficiently.

I keep my iPhones for like five years.. the Mini and Plus doesn’t seem prudent.. they bail on them. Come seven years down the line a regular iPhone I can get repaired anywhere.. a Mini or Plus? nope. It will be landfill.
I gotta stretch my dollar.. regular iPhone is the way to go.

Avoid iOS 26 for the iPhone mini. If you’ve already upgraded, you should probably factory reset and start over. Stick with 18.

A 5.4″ (Mini) – 5.8″ (X, Xs, 11 pro) screen size + today’s battery saving features and more efficient chips along with a smaller dynamic island (rumoured 18 pro series) would make a perfect phone

Complaining about battery is wild to me as someone who still uses the 13 mini because the battery lasts me more than a day with medium use (and yes, new 13 minis can come from Apple, but you have to basically get a replacement unit during repair lol)
