Now tell me why this hardware is so backwards – why does my console be so loud? Why this “coil whine” is so random? Why nothing works and People get console “fixed” after swapping to new console, that has the same problem. And because there’s lack of consoles, we have to wait 2 months to have console swapped to new one that jad the same coil whine problem?

ps1-ps3 sony had a very japanese minded approach to their systems, as in they only wanted japanese ppl in charge because of it being a ego stroke power move in the tech industry. ps4 came around and they were more open with mark cerny leading the architecture, and it made the playstation what it is today. sometimes you gotta give the nerdy white guy a chance lol

I’ll admit the PS5 is a really nice upgrade but I still miss the option to customize the themes like you could on the PS4 just to make the console feel a bit more tailored to your style. Keep it all bland and grey colored just gets old.

So far, it looks like the PlayStation 5 is Mark’s magnum opus!
In the late year of 2022 and forward, when cross-gen development will slow down much more and more games are being harnessed for current gen only, is when we will truly see all these feature sets he’s explained here come to light. I predict, once God of War and Horizon II release (being cross gen), we’ll see Sony’s first party studios do some true “next generational” evolutionary stuff that takes full use of the Geometry Engine, SSD optimization, that crazy I/O unit, Tempest 3D/Ray Tracing techniques…I’m tellin ya…we’ve seen nothin’ so far. They got some mind-blowing games in the pipeline that will make us think, “oooooohhhhhh, okaaaayyyyyy…so THIS is what next gen is,” once we see these games in the pipeline.
If Demon’s Souls, graphically, showcases what PS5 can do AT LAUNCH…I can’t imagine what 2023 and beyond is gonna usher in. Insanity…

This guy looks odd, but talks total sense, good to see ps has intelligent leaders that don’t shout. I have a Series S and it’s amazing. I play it on a 4 meter screen, 1080p 120hz projector. Looking at a silly little 4k TV just feels like mobile gaming now.

Sound has been underrated feature of the PS5. But I think its going to be very significant. We have a much harder time disbelieving our ears than our eyes. The 3D Audio system can be much more important to the sense of immersion than improved graphics.

Why does the PS5 run worse than the Series-X on all multiplatform games fps and/or resolution? Where is variable refresh rate? Where is Variable Rate Shading? 4:42 miles might take up less space (cant remember how much) and look better than on ps4, compared to the 70GB ish of spider man on ps4 with all 3 dlc still miles is a much shorter game

I loved this video. I love listening to how technology is evolving even though I am not rich enough to evolve with it. I am still yet to see or experience next-gen consoles even though they’ve been around for a year. In the same way, I am yet to experience 4K Media and high refresh rates on mobile devices. (still stuck to 60fps)

The 3D pulse headphones are absolute CRAP. Literally one of the very VERY few things I ever sent back to amazon after ordering. After using them compared to the RAZR pc headphones I had been using before there was no comparison. The pulse headphones didn’t sound good at all.

Love Cerny. But the Dualsense controllers have very low life span. The analog sticks start drifting after like 3 months and there’s no easy way to repair them yourself. Very frustrating, Especially since they cost more then ever.

I think it is time for Sony to create their own ARM chip for PS6. If Huawei can make their own Kirin ARM chip, surely Sony could make their own Sony ARM chip too? Lol, he said Sony designed CPU and gpu , but its actually AMD who designed it , BTW same CPU is in Xbox series as well .
AMD designed for both Sony and Microsoft , its zen2 8/16 core CPU and Rdna 2 GPU , only difference is ps5 got less GPU cores (36 compute units) vs Xbox series s (56 compute units) .
Sony ps5 does have faster SSD , but Xbox can handle better in ray tracing games cause of its raw power ,
Main difference is software , which is specific to the Sony .
I have feeling there will be ps5 pro which will have AMD zen4 16 core and RDNA 3 , BTW rDNA 3 is chilled design by amd , so we could have 40 teraflop GPU in ps5 pro easy , vs ps5 only (10 tera flops).
Oh maybe a true 8k vr device and ps5 PRO should be able handle with ease. Can’t wait on future hardware releases.

Maybe Digital Foundry need to listen to Mark Cerny so they stop asking how PS5 is keeping up with the Series X and outperforming it in most cases, building and understanding how a console will perform is not as straight forward as understanding PC performance

Is he really making the best system? Let’s find out!!! ps5 only has a hand full of games running 120fps VS Xbox. They have 20 games VS over 100 on Xbox and over 100 more with an FPS boost. Big difference! PS5 has a fast SSD but their CPU and GPU are less powerful than Xbox! They don’t have VRR yet! They don’t have 1440p res? why not? ohh… they want to sell 4k TV but they don’t have enough games that take advantage of 4k 120 fps. Most people play ps5 on 4k 60fps TV or 1440p monitor with down res to 1080p to get 120fps but, still not a lot of games that runs 120… why not sony? I got both systems and I stop play games on PS5 because there is not more good games I can play on it. I want sony to give me a reason to spend my money… but as for now… there is non… 3rd parties game I would rather play on xbox.

We are now several generations in with disc media which is fine with me but the bad part about it is you are allowing companies to release games on disc that are buggy and incomplete. Make a physical media that is sold as the game to which can be updated onto so we don’t buy obsolete versions as new.

He had the foresight to ask, and give the game devs what they wanted. But he also had the vision to add haptic feedback controllers, and advanced 3D audio that would add more realism and immersion to games. Something you won’t find in other consoles. Kudos to Mark Cerny!

The PS5s implementation of ray tracing is very weak. It really only exists on the console so that they can print on the box that it has Ray tracing. The performance hit is massive in this first gen implementation.

As a ps4 fan i was super excited to get my ps5.
But WOW that generation gap is so minimal. Load times and framerate are up but it doesnt feel like an upgrade at all besides that.

The adaptic triggers are GROUND BREAKING! So much that I would now favour playing the same game on the PS5 over the PC (with my 21:9 ratio). Now…..if Sony would be so kind to bring over the adaptic triggers when playing a PS game on the PC with the DualSense controller……Uncharted and God of War would be most welcome.

Nvidia and all the other PC component manufacturers really need to stop catering to their rich kid market and wake up to the value the new consoles offer. PC tech may have way more raw power with a stronger architecture, but the pricing just doesn’t make sense for what you get. PS5 is amazing engineer feat at a affordable price.

Because of that, in recent years games have reached a point where they are the same thing over and over again with just the graphics and visuals improving and leaving the AI, physics, animations, and things like that way behind.
