Your inner voice is a powerful tool for self-reflection and planning, but it can also trap you in negative thought loops — “chatter,” as psychologist and neuroscientist Ethan Kross calls it. He shares tips for quieting the less helpful aspects of the voice inside your head as well as how to harness chatter to overcome doubt, enhance your focus and transform your well-being. I have often thought about that my inner voice is spoken in english and it is often going at the same speed as I would normally speak… Why is that… And could it be faster…? 🤔 My inner voice is holding me back… Maybe I could be smarter if it was a different language or done at double speed… 🤔

This is why I practice a form of nihilism. My stripe of nihilism allows me to hate the game…not the player.
Simply stated…instead of rationalizing or blame placing, (which creates a rehearsal of thoughts) , I simply “capture” the thought(s) and attach them to others in the form of compassion, understanding, and benevolence.
I.e. I marry hatred with love. That is productive nihilism…nothing matters until it is made purposeful.
    Takes practice, but it’s doable.

    • @mr.c2485

      February 19, 2025 at 11:36 am

      @@BhuviVerma-w8y
All humans have the same desire…a “sound mind”… I.e….One that is not negatively affected by the whims of men or the eventualities of life. Since this is an impossible endeavor, all that we are left with is empathy for others. Nihilism simply allows for a level playing field.
      Hope that helps clarify……

    Take aways:
    1. The most important conversations you have are with yourself
    2. We spend about 1/3 to 1/2 of our time not being in the present
    3. Ways your innver voice can be one of your greatest tools:
3.1 Give yourself advice as if giving to someone else (Distanced self talk) – solomon’s paradox
3.2 Talk to other people but the best conversations you have are the ones that let you vent your emotions along with giving you advice annd expanding your prespective
3.3 Experincing awe makes your feel smaller and makes you feel your chatter (inner voice) smaller

Don’t think out and about things; think in. Gentle people 😢. Thinking is a psychological disease, a sickness infecting everyone. It is the cause of worry and unhappiness. You want to cure yourself of this habit, and I am going to show you how to get rid of it. You do it by not doing it – thinking, that is. Now, don’t think about that. Be serious. It uses your attention, and it lives in your stomach. Put your attention and awareness there; it can’t move when you have a “finger” on it. And you stop thinking. It’s fast, so keep vigilant. I am doing it for myself the same way you will have to do it for yourself. One Love.

I’ve been experimenting with manifestation techniques, and something strange keeps happening. When I focus more on the vibrational frequency instead of just positive thinking, things actually start manifesting. I just finished reading Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane, and it explains exactly why this happens. Has anyone else noticed this in their own life?

  27. @Nk_gamer55184

    February 19, 2025 at 11:03 pm

I used to struggle with manifestation because I always focused on positive thinking but never saw results. This book changed my perspective completely. Once I started applying what it teaches about vibrational frequency, everything shifted. It explains why most people fail at manifestation without even realizing it. I highly recommend reading Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane

  28. @VjwefyxcsBfignksvycahb

    February 19, 2025 at 11:03 pm

Most people don’t realize that their subconscious mind blocks manifestations before they even start. Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane explains this in a way I’ve never seen before. If you ever felt like you were doing everything right but nothing changed, this explains why.

  29. @funny_shortt_maker

    February 19, 2025 at 11:04 pm

There is an actual science behind why some people manifest wealth effortlessly while others struggle for years. It’s not luck, it’s about how your subconscious interprets vibrational frequency. I never understood this until I read Vibrations of Manifestation by Alex Lane. It breaks down the psychology behind manifestation in a way that finally made sense to me

  43. @DerekHowden

    February 20, 2025 at 9:55 pm

The voice that you are listening to comes with a context and the context is provided in an emotional sense of what you are thinking and listening to.
If your inner voice is critical and destructive you will never reason your way out of self criticism because no matter what the chatter is inside your mind the context remains the same.
So it is the persistence of the context that is the problem and not the persistence of chatter as the chatter is a consequence of the context i.e. it comes after the context which is built into place by your feelings.
If you need to change your inner voice then stop listening to the chatter and start to notice how you are feeling and start to relax into the feeling and let go despite the chatter and try to pay no attention to it and continue to relax and let go of the feeling.
Repeat every time you get the feeling and relax into it and let it go and as you continue to do this over time you will notice that the chatter has changed because the context has also changed.
Once you see that you can set yourself free you will set yourself free from all your fears and if you don’t believe me start with something small for example, for me I hate watching people climbing to heights and even though I am sitting in my living room I feel like I could fall and the person on the screen, in my context, better make it!!!!
It’s irrational fear so I watched a video short of someone doing something terrifying and started to relax into my feelings and within a few video’s they stopped being scary and now I find it fascinating.
The chatter is a consequence of a feeling
You will never change the feeling through a dialogue that reaches a conclusion to make it stop chattering to you.
Slowly start to relax into what you can cope with and over time you will teach your self how to set yourself free from a critical inner voice to a loving curious helpful happy voice that wants to explore life
Hope it helps 🙂it takes time and persistence and pay no attention to the chatter until it changes and brings you inner joy

Absolutely agree. I also think everyone must spend some time working with a well-fitting, professional therapist to heal original life traumas and destructive-beliefs that we all have to one degree or another. After doing enough of this work, the negative inner chatter *greatly* reduces, and then one is primarily left with neutral or positive inner chatter.

There is nothing “I” can tell “me” that I do not already know; Innate human intelligence works optimally when not distracted by mental language that is a product of a psychological identity. All mental “suffering / pain “ comes from this psychological reactivity that cannot exist without the power of our “attention “ and the constructed delivery system of language. The “voice” in the head is not endogenous to us; it is the accumulated self referential ideas about us that we have absorbed from culture / society / family, and ruminating on those concepts causes mental “discomfort “ along a spectrum that depletes our inherent vitality.

When we feel smaller so does our chatter.

So somebody who inflates their ego is also inflating their perception of their problems or their chatter. The bigger they think they are the bigger their chatter will be The bigger they will perceive their problems to be but if they could see it from the perspective of somebody who feels smaller their problems and chatter lessen? I should try to feel small?
I do like the idea of awe decreasing stress. I like to learn new things and find awe daily. I think one awe per day at least is my current ideal dose.

However, lit’s undeniably that l got more time to think before l speak during this solo play. This is a painstaking thought, imagining it’s a play directed by an amateur esl people. “There is no inertia in consciousness.” I realized about 2 years ago that my mind is going to continuously run, without end. So I made a promise to myself that if that’s the case then I’m going to give it good content to run off of. Paying more attention to and being mindful of my thoughts I was able to shift the default chatter from damning, persecutory, commanding me to just go away, to more positive, encouraging and uplifting. Since then every day I wake is better than the day before. We really do have the power to shape and mold our lives towards what we desire. I desire Love and peace, so that’s what I’m creating.

  72. @hahahahaha7824

    February 22, 2025 at 12:12 pm

Most of it is what we already know but it’s good to hear from a scientist on how people on average do have this issue (tendency) and it makes sense how traveling can be a relief since you usually go to places that have great scenery and you feel slightly better after disconnecting. I guess that is one way people experience awe and recharge. One thing I would to add is that we immediately feel better when we realize it’s not just us that’s going through the same problem. “The switch” or the “broadening of the perspective” allows one to realize it’s not a big deal since everybody is going through it. Because what makes one worried and scared to death is often the feeling that it’s something grave that is happening only to them like a miserable movie character ridden with really really bad luck. You have a huge breath of relief when you realize everybody goes through it and it’s not a big deal. So perspective is everything. It’s crucial to always remember that it’s not a big deal. The best thing about getting older is that you realize you have survived most things and you know that most things are not big deals.

    1. I read all books from MindBloomery, and I learned that mindset is the most powerful asset you can own. Talking to yourself few times per day is really important
    2. A book titled ‘The calm within: Cultivating clarity amid stress and anxiety’ was a game-changer for me. It taught me how to quiet the chaos in my mind and really focus
    3. I started journaling every morning. Getting my thoughts out on paper helped me organize my mind and stop overthinking
