“Batteries don’t like heat”… tesla batteries can pre-heat before charging😭 I’m pretty sure batteries charge better when warm, on the other hand CPU’s don’t like the heat (obviously). Correct me if I’m wrong please, I do love more battery chemistry knowledge!

Apple finally implemented Adjustable Voltage Supply (AVS), a newer protocol that is part of the USB Power Delivery (PD) 3.2 standard into the iPhone 17 Pro and their new 40-60 watt Dynamic Power Charger.
Since the USB PD 3.2 is an open standard as part of USB-C, brands aside from Apple will be able to release power chargers/banks that support this too, so luckily we’re not trapped into buying an Apple-only charger if we want the faster charging speeds. 👍

Of course you can buy a charger with more wattage and more ports, for cheaper,, but Apple’s doesn’t have holes in the AC plug, so that makes it okay.

I’d only use fast charging on vacation. At home a slow trickle charger is best for the battery.

Use grave caution if using a third party brick or cable to charge an iPhone.
It wasn’t all that long ago when a third party company had grave charging issues with iPhones. It would actually entirely brick the device. No ability to retrieve any content, and no abilit to repair the device. Using that third party device also voided the warranty.

Yes. This video is like a middle schooler who didn’t do research and is presenting anyway. This new charger is using PD 3.2 AVS which is needed for the absolute fastest charging of the 17 series.
What also isn’t mentioned is that the new AVS charging is barely faster than current 15V fixed charging, so you really don’t get any benefits.
At least Apple had provided good backwards compatibility.
All these media platforms trying to explain tech just sound horrible at it.

I do use the 170W GaN universal compact charger with all country prongs, 3 USB-C + 1 USB-A. I can charge all my devices at the same time, everywhere in the world.

I use the cord that came with the iPhone Air. I love the high-quality and braiding. I just plug it into my 140W MacBook Pro adapter, as I do with my Apple Watch and everything else. …OR, if my MBP is plugged in, I just plug it into the MBP itself. The Air has charged quite quickly. I charge it when it gets down to 20-30% and have it set to stop at 80%. 20-30 minutes and I’m ready to go. I’ve only had to charge the Air at most once per day, in two weeks of use.

Literally use your Macbook charger for the exact same results. Any of Apple’s chargers over 40w will achieve same results. There are test videos proving this new charger isn’t special.

How Apple’s Dynamic Power Source (DPS) is unique:
Standard USB Power Delivery (USB PD), first introduced in 2012, allows a charger and a device to “negotiate” the proper power level, preventing a phone from getting too much power from a laptop charger. But Apple’s new 40W Dynamic Power Adapter can do something extra:
Peak power boost: Apple’s 40W adapter can provide a short, temporary boost up to 60W for certain devices, like the iPhone 17. This allows for a significantly faster charge during the initial, most power-hungry phase of charging.
Intelligent power balancing: The charger uses an internal thermistor to monitor its temperature. Because a charger’s size is limited by how much heat it can dissipate, standard adapters are capped at a consistent wattage. Apple’s adapter is engineered to be compact (like a 40W GaN charger) but can safely deliver a higher peak wattage because it knows it will drop back to a stable 40W after a short time. This allows it to charge your phone faster while still being compact enough to carry easily.

Don’t buy this charger if you don’t have an iPhone or apple product. This charger does not support PPS, but rather something similar but not as common thus it won’t charge most android phones or Samsung devices at their full speed but only 15 watts. This charger only supports PD, DPS or AVS charging protocols. Only of which PD is what most android and Samsung devices use. And that’s limited to 15-18 watts. Even on Samsung models that support 25 and 45 watt charging it will only ever reach 15-18w due to those devices not supporting the DPS or AVS charging protocols required to get the full 40/60 watts out of this charger.
Unfortunately, apple does not mention this. And there’s hardly any information regarding this on the internet so just be warned. Most people with an android device won’t ever purchase this anyway. I did it purely out of curiosity and because I like the design with the charging port on the side. It can be useful for plugging it where you have an outlet behind furniture like a bed or behind a couch etc as the cable won’t be obstructed. But considering the cost, I still wasted my money on what’s practically a 15w charger as I don’t think I have any device that supports the protocol of it and thus I will probably never get to use it to its full potential.

yeah just buy a charger up to the Watts your device can handle if it’s over, most modern devices will only receive the watts your device takes… that’s um normal. thats the device not whatever brick.
