We’re back to the era that prevailed for the first 150 years of newspapers in this country, i.e., explicit alignment with party, as in Col McCormick’s Chicago Tribune, the Springfield Republican, the Rochester Democrat and Chronicle. That is not necessarily bad. What is bad is pretending to be objective when you are not. The way to trust is to just be up front about your alignment.
