As AI giants Anthropic and OpenAI prepare for IPOs, the companies are stressing their efforts to ensure the tech is safe and beneficial for humanity. But Safiya Noble, a UCLA professor and director of the university’s Center on Resilience & Digital Justice, says current AI is not safe, and that stereotypes and biases are being built into training data.
