No, no more giving my data to tech.

Honestly, what’s the worst that can happen? A targeted ad??

I think ur good with Apple but still don’t keep all ur eggs in one basket

You’ll be fine with apple. Google that’s a whole other story.

It’s better the Americans have my data rather than the Chinese!

@RedPanda US’s recent abortion ban shows very well just how important keeping your health data private is. Even if you’re not a woman, imagine in the future being denied health insurance when your connected smartwatch reveals to the insurance company that your cardio fitness is low and that you’re more at risk for heart disease. That’s why good privacy policies and strong end-to-end encryption is so important. Thankfully Apple has already been using it for some while now.

@Mateja Marić Yeah fair point! I think Apple’s disclaimers relating to their health apps/trackers say data is indicative only and not to be taken as medical advice etc, which hopefully means it also cannot qualify as evidence to be used against you by health insurance companies for the purpose of denying policy coverage.

      @Adam Tajyar It’s still ok

    • Adam Tajyar

      November 2, 2022 at 6:38 pm

@Micah Johnson that’s not the point. Apple make it’s a point to emphasize they don’t want to collect your data. Their whole business model for iOS and Mac is always talking about that.

@Adam Tajyar oh ok I get you, but your statement has two different interpretations. When you said you’ll be fine with apple. ” Google that’s a whole other story” as if it’s harmful to do so or that you won’t be fine with Google. At least that’s what I thought was implied.

Dangerous info that can be used against you in these crazy times.

how? 🤣 uhhhhhh, your body temperature was slightly higher last week therefore the FBI is gonna kick in your door??

    • s3cr3tpassword

      November 1, 2022 at 5:23 pm

Body temp rise, then doesn’t drop. Indicating pregnancy. If body temp drops to normal in a few weeks/months, could indicate women got an abortion. In states/countries that bans abortion, this data could be used against the women.

      November 1, 2022 at 7:02 pm

@s3cr3tpassword I think we’re getting a bit crazy here, plus I don’t think that Apple that doesn’t even give customers info to fbi when needed is just going to snitch your abortion

    • Mateja Marić

      November 2, 2022 at 3:32 am

Apple encrypts all Health data end-to-end, meaning that, even if they wanted to, they physically cannot access or give out your data. They were very keen to point that out during their introduction of the new Watches. It’s been like that for years.

The cyberpunk future… we are approaching fast. What metrics will be next to track? Imagine what this technology would be capable of in 10, 20, 50, 100 years. Imagine what this technology would be capable of under a different type of governmental regime. Imagine.

    Imagine.

So now they’ll sell your data to the govt if shows that you may have been fertile and ready to be preggo. If you aren’t with child or showing months later then it’s jail time.
