The TikTok ban, or at least the sale of TikTok by its parent company ByteDance, keeps gaining steam in Washington, DC. What started as a seemingly-unlikely proposal years ago, that sparked several state-level legislative efforts, has been passed by a House subcommittee.

And now TikTok has found an unlikely supporter in former President Donald Trump, who has flip-flopped to defend it as a part of his ongoing vendetta against Facebook. As the debate continues, plenty of potential suitors for a TikTok spin-off and political players in DC are starting to prep for the possibility that the TikTok we know today becomes a thing of the past.

This is all about market share, Instagram, Facebook and Google are losing your advertising revenue because of TikTok. This is all about weakening TikTok and protecting American interests. Instagram, Facebook and Google have ridiculous data protection! This is not about data but about economic interests!

I trust TikTok more in the hands of the Chinese than an American company. American tech companies censor opinions like crazy.

TikTok is one of the only apps where I actually see a variety of opinions from all sides.

This is why I believe congress is going after TikTok. Congress wants TikTok to end up in someone’s hands who will suppress information for their benefit.

An app that gives a real impression of what the populace thinks is very bad for them because it makes their propaganda on the FANG sites less effective.

    TLDR fuck congress
