To say the US has ever been the preeminent multi ethnic and multi faith democracy is completely ignoring the institutionalized racism and Christianity focused rhetoric as well as the active repression of non whites and non Christians.. and that’s not even taking into account the gender divide.

What makes the US different to all those historical cases is that the 1% are on Trump’s side, and they have all the money. They also own the media. It’s going to get worse before it gets better.

“Democracy is not going to die in the United States” she says with the same conviction of those who said “We aren’t going back”. The miserable truth is too many Americans are too stupid or too spoiled to do what is nessesary to save our freedoms. When we didnt hold Trump immediately accountable after his insurrection failed ilanyone with a brain knew what would inevitably come of it.

Wired isn’t going to like this but, buy guns and ammo while you still can. Seriously. Like Poland did. Look around, see what’s coming. Prepare. Don’t be in the too little, too late club. There’s a reason it’s the second amendment. You need to be able to speak your mind against the government while holding something that shows them you mean it, or else.
