The Gravity-Defying Future of Manufacturing | Schendy Kernizan | TED
3D printing promised to reinvent how we make things, but it’s mostly stuck producing prototypes with a high level of waste. Designer and TED Fellow Schendy Kernizan found a different way — by printing objects directly into a tub of gel. He explains how this technique eliminates the constraints of gravity, pushing the limits of…

Life, like music, was never made to run in straight lines #TEDTalks
Grammy-winning musician Jacob Collier has a name for the feeling that moves through a great piece of music: the wiggle. Watch him break down the idea into its three parts — melody, rhythm and harmony — with nothing but his own voice, a grand piano and Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World.” Turns out life,…

Good news: Even moving as little as 1 minute every 60 minutes can have health benefits #TEDTalks
Can a five-minute walk change how you feel all day? Exercise scientist Keith Diaz shows how your body is built for the kind of movement that modern life has quietly erased — and suggests something refreshingly doable: making time for small doses of movement sprinkled throughout the day, as a way to boost your brain…

Interesting. Hopefully this will also lead to finding better ways to clean/recycle water instead of one time use.

We need more manufacture in our environment to recieve more productivity and creativity

“Small, medium, large” is a manufacturing compromise we’ve learned to accept as normal. The real breakthrough would be making a perfect fit cost less than forcing everyone into the same few shapes.

Will landfills ever become a future resource?
@vidyagametourist

@saammahakala This is a super important question right here. When our waste becomes materials for others — literally one person’s junk becoming another person’s treasure — then we start solving real global problems.

Mining landfills? Gold hit 4k-5k$/oz. All those Pentium processors and electronics had gold plated pins…

I think this is promising but I wouldn’t call this technology innovative, we already have a technology where it prints in this gel like material, incjet 3d printing, that will most definitely be the new standard for 3D printing. I see this being used more for bio 3D printing, it would be the best environment. Resolution is something that needs to be addressed.
