I guess that it is a lucky thing that Tesla believes in vertical integration. The largest problem that Fremont has had is that the County department of Health and their Sheriff has not blessed the opening. Gretchen has today given the green light for auto manufacturing to start next week in Michigan for the big guys. With many of their parts coming from Motor City it is not clear if all the unions are yet on board in Detroit. From Gavin Newsom’s tweet, he is giving the green light for manufacturing next week but you have to close break rooms and move them outside. Probably a good idea for everyone until next winter and even then the weather isn’t too bad. So Alameda county what is it going to be? By the way, the Shanghai plant closed for a Chinese holiday. Should be open in a couple of days if I’ve read the news reports right.

It’t a scheduled shutdown for maintenance and upgrades, to increase output to 200K units/year from 150K/year. Bloomberg, you disappoint.
PS: 1-5 of May are national holidays in China, so the factory had to be shut down anyway.

the only reason to have ”just in time” and a worldwide supply chain is to cut costs. Well that is all good untill we have something that disrupts the whole world like wars or in this case a pandemic. I think it’s time to switch to onshoring. build everything you need in the same city. everything. make it on a campus.
