@festeringwound Funny. He’s done more in saving people from criminals and crime than 99.9% of Americans. But go ahead, throw away your phone, your iwatch, even your car…because everytime you plug your phone in to charge, everything is ripped to your cars computer. And….LE (with a warrant) and criminals (no warrant) can obtain that sitting next to you via Bluetooth.
Criminals avoid areas with cameras. And fyi, surveillance cameras were implemented because of store robbery’s and shoplifting.
Key note: don’t commit crimes and you won’t have a problem.

If you trade the word “Safty” for “surveillance” in this video, it all makes sense. My favorite part was how he explained why these “license plate readers” are in parks and places cars are not. He compared my our phones abilty to track us but didnt mention we agree to those terms and can turn it off our phones or leave it at home. We HAVE that choice.
You dont with flock, Did we agree to flock terms? can I turn it off? Can i leave it at home? They are not the same. He ran through this like it wasnt a big deal to treat everyones every move in public for “safety”. Terribly executed and even more of a reason to get these things off our streets after seeing this

The only thing mass surveillance accomplishes is pissing people off and giving the state power that it will abuse. Cops are already using Flock to spy on people that they shouldn’t, to stalk ex lovers, and to come up with bullshit “evidence” that gets innocent people arrested and/or hurt.
Mass surveillance makes us less safe, makes us distrust our government and our neighbors, and erodes the strength of society in general.

People don’t have problems with flock cameras, what people have a problem with is that law enforcement and some private companies are using them illegally. Some police agencies are think they are above the lawand use them to track their ex’s. There needs to be a system in place where you have to put in a your social security number as a security measure so if they do the wrong thing to be held responsible when you are using it as a personal use!!

I hope they keep the cameras. In many cities in Asia n UK flock cameras are everywhere. They are not used for traffic violation.
They arebused for tracking criminals and keeping the citizens safe. If you don’t like flock cameras you better not travel internationally. Lock yourself in the house for privacy

To all Americans that see in their communities. A dragnet search of your whereabouts and putting you in a database is not okay. They did not ask your permission to put them up you don’t need theirs to cut them down. This makes too much sense, so people react emotionally. We already have no reasonable expectation of privacy when in public, that’s not changing. But what can change is that committing a crime in public becomes dramatically more difficult.
If you ask someone what they lose from this, they have nothing of substance to say. They use “privacy” as a catch-all that simply *must* include something intangible and invaluable that has to be protected. But there’s never any real reasoning behind it.
This can make our country safer and cleaner. We have a disturbing lack of accountability here. If we can’t bake accountability and being a good person into the culture, then forcing it when in public seems like a fair middle ground to me
