Have you ever wanted to read someone’s mind? Mentalist Oz Pearlman is billed as one of the world’s greatest mind readers … and yet, he says he doesn’t have any special powers. In this spectacular talk meets psychic-inspired magic show, he demonstrates his skills on a live audience in the theater — and shows how anyone can learn the principles of mentalism. When people instinctively protect their groin or uterus (or abdomen) with their arms or hands, it reflects a natural response to protect vulnerable areas when threatened, it varies by gender. This instinct is driven by the desire to safeguard essential reproductive systems or a unborn baby.

I call BS. I don’t think he’s a con man or anything. I just think he’s making a bigger point. To that confidently be able to predict 100% of the time? BS. It’s a great show and he’s making good points bigger points than just guessing something. But there’s no way you could guess what that accuracy all the time. He’d be God.

    • @DanBryant-qj2pl

      November 2, 2025 at 1:56 pm

He would also be the most powerful man in the world.

    • @dennis3224

      November 2, 2025 at 3:06 pm

He actually is a con man. But u can look up videos yourself as to why

    • @DanBryant-qj2pl

      November 2, 2025 at 3:38 pm

@dennis3224Oh I know how he does a lot of his tricks. I know someone who tries to be him, but they’re not. But they kind of know how he does it. Seem a post below.

I say he’s not a con man because he at least admits that he knows it’s entertainment and if you’re willing to pay for that entertainment, then go for it. He is good at it.

Maybe you know something I don’t know about him. I do not say that being snarky I just really don’t know. But as long as he admits it’s just entertainment, got no problem with it.

    • @dennis3224

@DanBryant-qj2pl what he does is amazing but he’s a conman bc he’s selling a book while he gives everyone the impression that he’s some great reader of people.

I’m fine w the lying he does for his tricks but when it comes to him selling a book I think it’s scammy

whats happened to ted talks… we now have fuken charletans

  7. @DanBryant-qj2pl

    November 2, 2025 at 2:08 pm

He is most definitely talented and great at what he does and deserves all the accolades and money he gets for doing it. But From an article on Oz (where he also admits some deception):

“Pre-show Work: For certain complex tricks, especially on TV shows, he may gather information from participants beforehand, sometimes without their full awareness, to ensure a successful outcome.”

    • @AlwaysBeClosingABC

      November 2, 2025 at 6:45 pm

And, for other less complex tricks, he uses magician’s methods like a center tear or an impression pad to secretly gather information real-time. Because Oz is a magician, not an expert reader of people.

    • @AnnieB-v8j

      November 2, 2025 at 7:26 pm

@AlwaysBeClosingABC And there are his team, with microphones and maybe cameras on their gear.

  9. @mohamedauis530

    November 2, 2025 at 2:12 pm

I did not get it, can someone explain it

  10. @DanBryant-qj2pl

    November 2, 2025 at 2:50 pm

For those wanting to know, here is how he does it:

Let’s say you have an audience of 100 people for the show. A large percentage of the audience knows he is going to guess names. That’s what Oz does. Or he’s going to get you to think of something.

So before the show, you have a third-party scout. This third-party is going around talking to people making suggestions and also listening into conversations. All he needs to do is identify three people who definitely know who they’re gonna pick. Or what thing or what number they will pick. The scout can also try and get other information off of people.

All the Scout has to do is identify a few people who definitely know who they’re going to think of. Or get some kind of information off a few people that is definite. The soon-to-be audience is oblivious.

He then communicates that to Oz. And that is how Oz decides who he will call on.

Oz will never call on people randomly. He calls on the people who the third-party has already gotten definite information from. If it’s four out of 100 then the scout only had to get definite information from about 4% of the people. Easy assignment when practiced so often.

This way, the person is blown away and has no idea how Oz did it. And the person can honestly say he did not talk to Oz before the show or ever.
Sometimes this will backfire, but very, very, very rarely. Especially when the skill is honed over time. When it does,Oz has learned and perfected deflection skills to handle it. But this rarely has to be done.

There are of course variations of this, but that is exactly how he does it.

    • @DanBryant-qj2pl

      November 2, 2025 at 2:55 pm

One can always come up with “well, what about the time…”

Well, everything comes with anomalies but over years of perfecting this, it is an extremely rare thing to have happened. And believe me, Oz has absolutely perfected the skill of deflection and handling it on the very rare occasions the percentages don’t go his way.

    • @TheVigilante2000

      November 2, 2025 at 4:27 pm

@DanBryant-qj2pl Yes, but he does have a complete miss and he has made you forget about it already. The woman said Bob Dylan, the woman said no, and Oz said, no what about the guy before that guy you were thinking of. Trevor Noah. Wheee he got it right, on the person the woman already told the scout about, not the one she was thinking of.

    • @DanBryant-qj2pl

      November 2, 2025 at 6:28 pm

@TheVigilante2000 oh no, I completely remember that. But he was very smooth about it. That’s what I mean. On the very few times when he misses, he is very skilled and has practiced the art of as you said “making you forget about it quickly”

    • @DanBryant-qj2pl

      November 2, 2025 at 6:29 pm

@TheVigilante2000 for instance I am sure the information he got from the third-party said that she would say Trevor Noah. Then she came out with Bob Dylan and like you said it’s a mess. But he knew he could say who else were you thinking of because he knew from the third-party that Trevor Noah what’s the one she had originally talked about with whomever.

BEFORE THE SHOW Oz Pearlman’s scout had those 3 people write the answers to the questions they will be asked later when the show airs. The woman tried to trick him as she originally wrote ‘Trevor Noah’ but later said ‘Bob Dylan.’ He had to get out if it by asking who she originally thought of. As to Bret, the guy that came on stage, he was in on it. The scout told Bret what the guy wrote down and rattled it off on stage. Bret had one of those foldable frisbee’s in his hand. Oz handed another frisbee to his stooge who threw it way off stage. Bret then let the frisbee spring open appearing that he had just caught it. The rest is theater!!!

Oz is a talented magician and performer. But the secret to what he’s doing is not reading people, its simple tricks used by magicians such as pre-show work, center tears and impression pads, thumb writers as well as other methods including assistants who also gather information pre-show. To claim he figures out what people are thinking by “reading them”, body language, psychology, subtle tells, etc. is simply not honest. The truth is he’s using trickery.

  22. @AlwaysBeClosingABC

    November 2, 2025 at 7:01 pm

“A charlatan is a person who pretends to have more knowledge or skill than they actually possess to deceive others for personal gain.” Oz claims to do the feats you see in this video by reading people and figuring out how they think. But in reality he is just a magician doing tricks. Search for “revealing all of oz pearlman’s secrets (complete guide to mentalism)”.

At 8:45, he completely missed the improv comedy setup she gave him. Also, she said “Bob Dylan,” which he clearly didnt have prior knowledge of. He asked her what name she first thought of “before the show”, and she changed her answer; classic misdirection. As for the performer, he tries to give it a scientific twist with his so-called “greener grass approach.” What a liar., then he gives us a lecture on success. Can we stop putting these people on TED and just call it what it is; a magic show.

Everyone, in my opinion, can do this. It’s relying on observational and common sense skills. I do this in public all the time, but there’s usually no way to test if I’m right. I do this with my husband and he looks at me like I’m from the Twilight Zone! 😂 It’s learned because of growing up in a volatile household. I’m teaching my daughter how to do it as well because it’s extremely handy in certain situations.
