Wow! This makes so much sense! Amazon has always had brilliant solutions to preserve natural resources, for example by bottling up employee piss.

Remember, those who would work for Amazon, if you can be replaced by a machine, you will be replaced by a machine … that includes folks who do planning or design work, because that too can be automated … and until you can be replaced, you’ll be treated like a biological machine.

I have to call b/s on Amazon being 85% renewable. I see their delivery drivers many times a week as well as their trucks on the road. No part of these operations are 0 carbon.

I work in data centers….. straight up lies. I wont go into details but based on the 120mw solar farm… thats 3 to 4 amazon data centers. They are now building 3 story data centers and based on the size of the ones that everyone is building in virginia…. 120mw is 1 campus… thats it… and we all have multiple campuses. People can cry about this but your going to use the thing your upset about to cry about it… your reading this on that same network so……

So with the local taxes that Amazon pays, they got to buy the green energy by tacking their goal to the one from the local gov.
Basically the old scheme – get the most out of due local taxes by making it seem like a community investment and expect no-cost energy out of it.
At least it is known that Arlington Virginia local gov. is paying for the useless space trips – 😶🌫

I’m 58 and my wife and I are VERY worried about our future, gas and food prices rising daily. We have had our savings dwindle with the cost of living into the stratosphere, we are finding it impossible to replace it. We can get by, but cant seem to get ahead. My condolences to anyone retiring in this crisis, 40years nonstop just for a crooked system to take all you worked for

Agreed mate but for one thing, I empathise with the Ukranians but nothing more, they’ve decided they’ll fight – correct decision IMHO but it was their decision to make. Now we must decide if we fight alongside them. I say yes but live in a democracy and the majority might see it differently when the crunch comes.

So where to start with TED & Amazon’s hypocrisy here?… First, Amazon is the ultimate example of a corporation thriving on hyper-consumerism, where people the world over buy mountains of crap they don’t need, thereby increasing humanity’s energy consumption to the unsustainable levels we’re witnessing. Second, this 100%-renewable energy pledge to power Amazon’s warehouses, data centers, etc. is but a minuscule amount of the energy expanded upstream of Amazon to extract resources from the Earth, refine minerals/fossil fuels and create the mountains of crap later sold on Amazon.

I’ve seen a lot of comments about Amazon and I just feel like this video is more of a view than a complete picture of Amazon’s situation excluding employees and Jeff Bezos. More of an analysis of the company’s buildings and energy consumption.
