Would you put an electronic contact lens on your eye? 👀

Yes but I think cleaning them would be a nightmare. Soaking in solution may not be enough.

January 9, 2022 at 11:33 pm
These contacts would drastically improve my life. I have difficulty getting focal length correct with my gasses and need to switch to tri-focals. Not so much worried about the Mets verse, but the adaptability of the eye and my vision are an exciting possibility.

Guys it was in 150 BC they invented the Bagdad battery from an earlier Egyptian model. It is now 2022 and still not invented the small cylinder nuclear battery for commercial use. Today we face a huge energy insecurity, and here they come up with a device that supposed to power it self from out of thin air.,

Frank Coffey
January 9, 2022 at 11:39 pm
I’m not interested in the augmented reality stuff just yet but if I develop an issue with my eyes as I get older I would like to be able to adjust the contacts to compensate for lost spots or adjust magnification as needed. I could use that right now, I can only see well at a distance with my contacts so I need reading glasses.

2022 just take that number think about it feel it. I am afraid devolution starts just like the Dark Ages we forget everything humanity has learned. witness the slow build up falling in to the trap of world war 3. people will realize they are in this world war 3 scenario when it its far to late. After all the economic warfare poverty greed egocentric lust and decay. maybe we start again as cave man living underground.

I have been an eyeglass user since 3rd grade in 1959 and don’t like the idea of putting contacts in my eyes. That said, if they can correct macular degeneration I would do it if my insurance would pay. Will they be able to treat age related vision lose?

I’m fine with ar I want to know how it’s powered? How it connects to my device? What the user interface is like. In the end this will rise or fail by the same measures as any other technology. How useful it is versus cost & ease of use.

This tech doesn’t make much sense as contact lens is one time use only. One would essentially be paying all that premium fees just to wear it one time then have to discard the lens before bacteria starts to develop.

January 11, 2022 at 8:09 am
Price point could be an issue as contacts can rip quite easily so if you’re having to replace them it could get costly. I like the idea, but it’ll be interesting how it integrates into our lives. I think the glasses will initially be a bigger hit and then the lenses will start taking over down the line.

I don’t understand this I have worn glasses my entire life and that’s something I would be fine with putting on a doohickey on my glasses for the augmented world. But doing a contact lens I would not. And I don’t know very many people that don’t wear glasses that would be willing to do a contact lens. But everyone at some point in time pretty much has done sunglasses so I assume if they want to do that would be a viable option. And then you have the CEO of course saying stuff like will pacemakers and people have implantable corneas to help them see or what not. And yes those are devices that people need to actually help them live. You don’t need a contact lens to know what the speed limit is on a road.

After having cataract surgery following a detached retina, I found that while my vision is sharp each eye sees a different size image. I would be interested if I could fine-tune the size of the image so that each Eye would see the same size image. Perhaps a different use of this tech.
