Why Making Prescription Meta Ray-Ban Display Glasses Gets Tricky

The Meta Ray-Ban Display can currently only handle lens prescriptions ranging from +4.00 to -4.00, but there’s a scientific reason for this limitation (for now). #metarayban #metaglasses #arglasses #metaraybandisplay #meta

“I’m deeply legally blind without wearing telescopes for glasses. How come your product doesn’t work for me and when will you make it for the tiny percentage of the population that has such terrible vision?”

@@WillElMagnifico nope. Just recognizing that most products are designed to work for MOST people.

Yeah? Most cars are NOT designed to work for people with no legs. The buttons on electronics aren’t designed for people with no fingers.

This vision based tech toy isn’t designed for people who are legally blind. They cover … what … negative four to positive four .. I think. I believe that’s more than standard deviation for the population. But, it’s nowhere near the negative eight he’s asking about.

One day? Maybe. Sure. At LAUNCH? Dude .. what? No.

These will never catch on in this form. They are absurd looking. I get that we’re in the early days of this tech and future iterations will reduce the size, but until they’re indistinguishable from the Wayfarers I currently wear, I would never consider buying them.

I’d wear them, except I don’t trust Meta.

This is very new tech and patience will only please rewarded, I think. Comparatively speaking, these are only at the iPhone 3GS era of the technology. Meaning that it functions as intended in many ways but there’s a lot of refinement to be made in the hardware and software areas.

Other tech companies are letting meta spend their money R&Ding, smoothing out the kinks, then they’ll come in with their own products. Probably 2yrs away, I think.
