Sure. Except .. historically bank have been very slow to increase rates on savings and very fast to increase rate on debt. Many loans are tied to indexes like the Wall Street Journal rate or the Federal Home Loans Bank rates. But savings rates are “at the banks discretion”. So while your little coffee illustration is theoretically how things work, the reality is not so “sweet”.
