if you even have to ask the question, it’s a gimmick. Musk should be putting all energy into flying drone cars like the Jetson One. He won’t though.

A car that won’t fit the needs of most consumers (rich or poor), let alone not that beneficial for the environment. I don’t see any point in mass-producing this car. You can tell it’s going to be a costly ownership, not including the price tag.

Let’s face it, if it cames from Elon Musk, it’s a gimmick, marketing ploy or a way to get another grant without actually being able to produce a marketable product that anyone that doesn’t have several million a year income can afford.
There are real flying cars out there now that are marketable.

When the roadster is at the end of the ramp, what is it suctioning and if the surface isn’t there to suction, the car must feel light which should push the car towards the ground or atleast a thruster must compensate by pushing the car away from the ground.
Both these things aren’t seen when roadster is at the end of the ramp…😂😂😂
What a comedy show it was, trying to fool the world with fake gimmicks…

@zaphodbeeblebrox2817
October 31, 2026 at 11:35 am
Just a vanity project. Most people just want a basic Roadster and they’re still waiting!! The suction system is cool. The compressed air boost is over the top IMO but if you’re willing to sit next to a COPV, sure why not. The rocket version can’t possibly have a full size battery because of weight and “control” thrusters need dry nitrogen and can’t use compressed air like the acceleration thrusters. Seems to me he did it just because he said it could be done, just a vanity project. Is making a Hollywood stunt car a good use of R&D?
Elon lost his mind to ketamine. Why do people believe his dumb Optimus robot will succeed?
In 2017 I was a Tesla fanboy, My model3 was built in a tent when dreadnaught failed. The FSD I bought would allow my car to “join the robotaxi fleet” after they upgraded my HW2 to HW3. Then Dojo failed. Now HW3 isn’t good enough anymore. HW4 is foiled by grey kittens. The latest V14.3lite Still can’t tell a “route” sign from a speed limit!
All the fan boys and investors were saying Tesla will make a 4 passenger Model 2 for the masses. Instead we got Cybertrucks, robotaxis and a useless flying car. The whole ensh_tified industry convinces us to buy more profitable vehicles because “they bigger n safer”. While most people just need a commuter. Tesla could have been the company that gave us what we needed. But instead Tesla is driven by an ego.
They made robotaxis instead of the model2 because Elon thought it’s the future. Fanboys and sycophants at the company agreed. Investors went along.
He inserted himself in politics and promised savings but only caused permanent loss of millions of Tesla customers. Fanboys, sycophants, investors all went along.
Now he wants mechanical slaves and everyone BLINDLY agrees without thinking. The reality is Optimus will fail. He recently admitted “hands are hard and will take much longer”, that was already obvious to many.
Humanoids basically can’t do any job except entertainer. Even when teleoperated, they can barely fold a shirt. So if a human brain can’t make it do a job in a practical manner, why would an artificial brain do any better?
But hands and brains aren’t the only problem.
UNDERSTAND THIS !!
Automation has been replacing people in factories for decades and it hasn’t stopped, so if a humanoid can do it, it’s ALREADY automated! Because a humanoid IS just automation. So there are NO jobs for it, let alone “millions” in factories!
Fanuc ABB Rockwell Siemens Cognex Schneider Keyence etc etc dozens of companies have been replacing people with automation for decades so why aren’t they making humanoids? Do all of them lack foresight? Are they sitting around waiting for a humanoid or or some “Physical AI” to use their products? No, they have already incorporated AI into them! The “AI revolution” has already been underway. There is nothing new happening except now the tech bros want mechanical slaves and don’t realize they already have them. Smart automation already exists. “Physical AI” is just a new buzzword.
Fact: A humanoid uses state of the art technology in hardware and software(AI) and is meant to replace labor.
Fact: Factories use automation with state of the art technology in hardware and software(AI) to replace labor.
Fact: Improvements in technology apply to both, so FUTURE humanoids will never have a place in factories either.
See the problem? You’re trying to put a mechanical horse in front of a horseless carriage. You might as well have a humanoid drive the robotaxi.
It would be ridiculous for a humanoid to lay bricks or use human welding equipment. So “Path Robotics” and “Monumental” make non humanoid robots to do it. Amazon is not replacing people with humanoids. Farming robots are not humanoid. Framing and drywall robots will not be humanoid. BMW is trying to use them but in that application a configurable AMR would have far fewer parts, better reliability and performance at a lower cost than a mass produced complicated humanoid robot with weak fingers instead of strong grippers.
Many seem to think factory jobs are easier than other jobs, they are not. A lousy housekeeper won’t cut it. It can’t work at McDonalds because the hands can’t bag items, make change, crack eggs, wrap burgers, wash etc. Also it should be obvious that AGI does not need a humanoid to replace someone working at a desk. But they would be really nice if a disabled person could use it as a telepresence to go shopping, do simple chores, etc. TAM will be small. There will be more AMR’s than “working” humanoids.
Hot, heavy, dirty and dangerous jobs. There are hundreds of millions of them around the world. And if a humanoid could actually do it, LOL, without breaking or overheating, LOL, most of those jobs pay super low wages in places where there is no electricity to charge it anyway.
Hands are underestimated. They can wash themselves! a must for many jobs. They can sense pressure AND the direction of pressure on ALL surfaces. When you put a lid on a paper cup you don’t crush it because your soft palm can feel the pressure around the lid. Soft fingertips can open a plastic bag, grasp and manipulate small parts without looking, sense when something might slip, feel slight imperfections(< 0.00005 mm !), pick up a marker and write, thread a needle, handle money, scissors, pickle jar etc. etc. Anyone with a trade job would know it's impossible, or impractically slow to do it with robot hands. Emulating a hand is impractical and unnecessary. "it's a humanoid so it can work in a human environment" The form or brains don’t matter. What matters is what it can do. A factory IS a "human environment"! They can be lousy housekeepers, tour guides, toys, entertainers, criminals, spies etc. If anyone! ELON! should know that a "working" humanoid is really the antitheses of "first principles". If the goal is to emulate a human then you must make a humanoid/android. But if the goal is doing things that a human can do, then first principles DOES NOT dictate a humanoid! So AI is already "embodied" or "physical" because automation didn't wait for a humanoid. And if you do want to emulate a human, you must choose which characteristics you want. It may need sensitive hands to feel slight imperfections or it may need durable hands for hard work. So a one-size-fits-all like Optimus is not practical. Groupthink nonsense and NDA's have killed critical thinking.

Even if there is a filter system to collect all the road debris from the suction system so it isn’t propelled into the windshields of cars behind you just the basic disturbance created from the suction activity and the skirts making intermittent contact with the road surface would be enough to create the same hazard. It would be like driving behind a street sweeper except a street sweeper capable of driving over 200 mph.
