Authoritarianism isn’t winning, democracy is failing, says Sally Kohn #TEDTalks
Doesn’t it seem like a lot of online news sites have moved beyond reporting the news to openly inciting your outrage (and your page views)? News analyst Sally Kohn suggests — don’t engage with news that looks like it just wants to make you mad. Instead, give your precious clicks to the news sites you…

Would you let your friend pay for dinner? #TEDTalks
The check lands on the table. Everyone freezes. Do you let your friend pay and call it a gift? Insist on covering it? Or promise to get the next one? Corner Piece host Sabrina puts Taha, Melissa and the audience to the test, and it turns out “what do we owe each other?” is a…

The Joy of Foraging Your Own Food | Alexis Nikole Nelson | TED
There’s a whole world of food growing right outside our doors — in our backyards, on sidewalks, in the parks we walk through every day — and most of us pass by it without a second glance. Alexis Nikole Nelson wants to change that. A self-described “ethnobotany nerd,” she’s spent years teaching people how to…

What If You Could Read the DNA of Your Future Child? | Noor Siddiqui | TED
For all of human history, a baby’s DNA was determined by chance at conception: the so-called genetic lottery. “That era is over,” says Noor Siddiqui, whose company builds screening tools to read the whole genome of embryos in an effort to give parents more genetic information than standard IVF. She makes the case that this…

Government debt is the underlying cause
@stevenporter863
October 31, 2026 at 2:36 pm
Causes of debt:
1. Involvement in international conflicts that are not our fight, but proclaimed ourselves the world’s policeman. Other countries have to pick up some of the bill too.
2. Too big federal government and over reaching federal powers. Too many federal workers doing things the federal branch shouldn’t be doing.
Economic, infrastructure, military and ability to introduce laws that are for public good- that is all the constitution delighted to federal.
3. Too many people looking for welfare handouts.

extractive capitalism is short term gains for long term losses, constructive capitalism incentivizes long term prosperity over high risk/high reward gambles (slow and steady wins the race)

People do not understand “democracy”. Democracy is majority rule – not necessarily a good thing. We’re a CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC that was infiltrated by nefarious characters (Evil Entities).
The corrupt system is being taken down. What will unfold within the next 2 years will benefit the citizens, not the corrupt politicians and bureaucrats.

That is because we live in a republic, not a pure democracy. There is a difference, although the US is hybrid.

Exactly. Maybe not to that extent but we are legally born equal but, NOT equal in the sense of physical and mental abilities. I can’t be a professional athlete or perform brain surgery.

There is no genuine democracy and that’s why it is leading to authoritarianism

You get what you work for. The 1%—yes, they are smarter, and they work harder. They come up with innovative ideas that they put into practice. Sorry, lady, it sounds beautiful to think that everyone would have what they want without working like CEOs and millionaires do, but it is not realistic. Nobody wants a communist country where everyone gets the same handouts.

Bullshit. Most are already born rich and previleged. Also they make money exploring others, not working hard. They are corrupt, imoral and selfish.

I don’t think anyone could’ve said that any better. I was clapping and I’m all the way across the world. It sucks that some jobs are like this I guess the only way you could explain it to a class like yours is have yourself and someone else standing on diving board and see who gets paid more for jumping off is giving your life sacrificing your time.. ❤️
