Elon Musk is a stud. Would you risk your good name launching two humans into the (virtual) unknown? So much could go wrong. It is easier being a corporation like Boeing or a government agency like NASA instead of personally being responsible for the lives of two humans. Congrats, Elon and the SpaceX team.
