165hz on a phone is completely unnecessary though 😀

      June 17, 2022 at 12:27 pm

      Until Apple makes one…

    • porterj

      June 17, 2022 at 12:31 pm

Agreed – the trade off on battery life is not worth it IMO. I consider 90htz to be the sweet spot for refresh rate on a mobile device.

    • Kasallamacher

      June 17, 2022 at 12:37 pm

@Mr Egusi nah. the manufacturer doesn’t matter

    • David Agiel81

      June 18, 2022 at 3:44 pm

That’s why the 7 pro is only 120, but with a higher touch sampling rate

    • Miki Mau

      June 18, 2022 at 4:06 pm

@porterj you can lower it.. better to have it than not. And the battery is still better than a galaxy with less Hz i guarantee you that

I like the active cooling. That’s a brilliant idea.

It’s been around since Red Magic 3…

I still don’t think the games are quite there for a gaming phone, most racing games you are just pressing a boost button or have very minor inputs, these are phones for pubg fortnite and apex mobile really

@Galaxy rock Studio I use my Xbox one controller with a mount on my phone, works like a charm

    • Galaxy rock Studio

      June 17, 2022 at 1:12 pm

@jim dunk I’d definitely get one

It’s really good for shooting games or driving games and just makes everything super fun and easy

I’d also recommend a goodneck for holding your phone while you play your games, just be careful if you’re on Android, my Xbox controller can’t connect to my A52 for some reason ????

    • Galaxy rock Studio

      June 17, 2022 at 1:14 pm

@Lance Cooper for some reason it can’t connect to my A52 ???? idk that’s android but whatever I’m getting iPhone soon then I can use my Xbox controller

2:00 If you remove animations in Accessibilty settings, then you’ll really truly experience how insanely snappy 165Hz can be. Animations just slow everything down, so I remove animations all together on 120Hz+ screens

The design remind me of LG G6

Hmm, I’ll still go with the modded Steam Deck with multiple OS

Anyone serious about gaming wouldn’t waste more than $500 on a phone. Rather put that extra towards a decent gaming rig – only then can you call yourself a gamer.

    • Ariel Kisilevzky

      June 17, 2022 at 5:49 pm

Isnt a gaming rig like 2k?

    • RickOShay

      June 17, 2022 at 8:00 pm

@Ariel Kisilevzky No they start around $500.

    • Kenzou Kazuto

      June 18, 2022 at 5:17 am

A real gamer would have both. Its not a waste when u can afford both gaming rig and gaming phones anytimes.

AR Glasses are for real Gamers

    • RickOShay

      June 18, 2022 at 8:14 am

@E. v. K. yes hooked up to a decent gaming machine.

    • RickOShay

      June 18, 2022 at 8:16 am

@Kenzou Kazuto True – it’s just the average <25 person can't afford to waste money on a high end gaming cell phone and gaming machine let alone a good VR headset.

    • Miki Mau

      I get about 10hours. But that’s just me I’m a performance nerd

Wow.. 12GB RAM.. So has my almost 3year old Note 10+..????‍♂️ No big deal. 165Hz etc is just unnescecary on a phone. Rather have more battery life and variable refreshrate with a lower max Hz.

I love my Red Magic 7. I am a retro gamer myself. I use it to play GameCube, PS2, PSP, N64, Dreamcast, NDS, MAME, and more. A great phone not only for Android, but retro gaming as well. Thanks for the review.
