    I am disappointed in OnePlus…

They don’t seem to care about longevity (Hardware) and value for money any more like they did in the old days.
Almost everything got worse with every new product:

    – No removable battery anymore
    – No expandable storage anymore
    – Notches and Punch holes
    – Curved Screens

    – Ever larger and more expensive devices

    – No Headphone jack anymore

Every point I mentioned is valid and will be mistaken for old or unnecessary.
    I guess they finally settled…

What do you mean by no expandable storage anymore? A total of 3 oneplus phones had it, the x, nord n100 and n10.
As for the rest that’s just the way the whole industry went, no removable batteries mainly due to making the phone waterproof and nicer to look at, notches and punch holes cause people want bigger screen to body ratios, same reason for curved screens, larger cause people want bigger phones that have bigger batteries that last longer and the content consumption experience is better with bigger screen, more expensive probably cause they are a company and need to make money also people like premium phones, no headphone jack now that’s a general trend that has no real reason behind it, except trying to sell you bluetooth headphones. I mean not everybody likes these trends, myself included for some, but that’s what the general consumers want, hardcore users just aren’t a large enough segment of the market for companies to make phones catered to them and still have a profit and with no profit there is no company simple as that

      March 23, 2021 at 4:25 pm

@Benjamin Plut I know what you mean, and I know that almost every company is profit oriented.
But It’s not always what the general consumer wants. They just don’t have the choice…

They don’t want to pay extreme high prices for the higher storage option which also isn’t recoverable if the phone dies.
They don’t want to risk shattering their phone if they want to put in a new battery. (Devices with Removable battery and waterproofing are a thing) (Also: People will use a Case)
They don’t want to compromise their privacy with a selfie cam which cannot be elegantly covered.
They don’t want a curved screen which is more fragile and attracts disturbing reflections.
Not all people watch a movie on their phone and prefer a device for one handed operation.

      Fortunately, companies like Fairphone exist…

Bluetooth headphones is better quality that Jack headphones curve screen is good i love my OnePlus 7pro and dislike my OnePlus 8t+5g…why do you want to remove the battery is 2021 not 2003 or 2001 and expandable memory why? I have 256gb and still not full i have over 100gb left and i have multiple apks, games and emulators installed

@平和 you mean it’s not what YOU want, so buy another phone lol

Like 8 years ago I would’ve agreed with most of what you said, but removable batteries and expandable storage is pointless for 95% of people in this day and age. On my phones years and years ago, I would gladly carry a second battery pack that I could swap in, but now even on the previous Oneplus 8 pro with “only” 30W charging, a 20-30 minute charge is enough to give you several hours of even ultra-heavy use battery life. Removable batteries often mess with the design and quality feel of a phone too.

Expandable storage was great before, but with Google’s own cloud service starting at just a few bucks a month, there’s no need for expandable storage, and you can keep files you want to keep, but don’t necessarily access very often, off of your phone and clear clutter (not to mention that cloud storage is often more reliable long term, I’ve lost memory card files to corruption and water damage in the past). Even if you are afraid of cloud based storage, portable hard drives so you can leave extra files on your computer are dirt cheap these days.

The old pop-out camera on the 7 pro was great, but I’m sure would add even more cost back into the phone, and in that case I’d rather have a hole punch than a notch.

Audiophiles can buy a usbc to headphone adapter, but 99% of people are fine with bluetooth. All those features you mentioned were great for a time, but to most people they just don’t matter anymore.

Camera has never been my priority and I’m sure it hasn’t been for most oneplus enthusiasts. I use my camera as a tool, and it isn’t a big deal when compared to all the other features the 9 pro offers.

    • TheBkdot

      March 23, 2021 at 5:04 pm

What other features? I’ve stayed away from Oneplus because it just seems like there always something missing but for the price I couldn’t complain. Now that the price has significantly increased, what am I getting extra? Imma need more than just a Hasselblad name on the back of my phone.

    • Nemo Ciau

      March 23, 2021 at 8:39 pm

@TheBkdot oneplus has the advantage of Oxygen OS. If youve never used it, it’s the fastest simplest version of Android. Aside from OneUi, the user experience is very responsive and quick. If youre very goal oriented and hate it when things slow down or stutter, try Oxygen OS. If you are always on the go, this has fast charging. If you need to game, high refresh rate. The phone is feature packed and every iteration keeps getting better for power users.

    March 23, 2021 at 3:37 pm

I think it’s funny how vague the reviewer is about the Camera. I watched a in depth review from an english Tech reviewer from India boasting about color accuracy and especially getting skin tones correct. I feel like this Cnet review is biased from other things I’ve seen.

    • Hridi's Vlogs

      March 23, 2021 at 3:53 pm

I think when the reviewers hear the name OnePlus they simply start saying the cameras are bad even if it’s really good.
Throw them an iPhone even if it’s bad they will stay glorifying it.(don’t get me wrong iPhones have good cameras)

Great phone. So “reasonably” priced that it WON’T be competitive because oneplus abandoned its root (never settle) and you need to be a fan to want it.

OP 9 and Galaxy S21 beats the OP 9 Pro in battery because they use 1080p (S21 defaults at 1080P) whereas OP 9 Pro uses the much more energy intensive 1440p

    • Arun Saha

      March 24, 2021 at 5:58 pm

But we can always shift to 1080p in 1+ as well..

    • batman8995

      March 24, 2021 at 8:03 pm

@Arun Saha correct. But this review is very misleading comparing battery life of the OP9 Pro at 1440p to 1080p mode of the OP9 and Galaxy S21

9pro isn’t on the same price tag with S21Ultra or ip12 Pro Max. Why ppl keep compare it to those? Try to compare it to the S21+ and the 9pro just kills.
